Her second album has gone number 1 both sides of the atlantic. Only other british band to have done it is the beatles. Personally i thought she may of been a 1 album hit and that was it. Seems i was wrong

Strange but the first time we ever saw her before she opened her gob I said to mrs snakes she gonna surprise everyone got a great voice but looks as though she from TRNC ha ha ! Think they exposed her bad presentation to mislead her very good voice and magnetic personality ! PaulW The Monkees were great yet never played their own instruments on most stuff although Mike Nesmit (the geezer with the green hat) did occasionally ! His mother invented Tipex ! wow what a loada trivia cr..p ! one for the quiz people ! regards Barry

But will her 'singing' still be as popular in 50 years, as the Beatles are? Who also wrote most of thier own songs.

The thread was not a vote on popularity. it was about her and the beatles being the only 2 british acts to make number 1 in the same year with both albums.

I think people just like her and feel sympathetic towards her. She was written off at birth by the Dr. saying she would never amount to much (to her mother) and despite all the cruelty she has had she has kept on singing, in clubs and now she is very successful. Good luck to her. Nowadays people are too obsessed with physical appearances, but they are not that important and she does sing well.

Phylray. I think you are right there. She does get the sympathy vote. She's an ok singer though.

We've got her latest album 'The Gift'. Completely different from album 1 in style & substance, and devoted to a modern ' take' on Christmas carols & songs. Beautiful orchestration throughout and it allows Susan's voice to gently waft over each number. Having listened to it now 3 times, without outside distractions, we can say its a little gem of a compilation, thoughtful & easily 'absorbed', specially released for this time of the year, and very much in keeping with Susan's own deeply religious beliefs. Can't really compare this one with album 1 as the whole mix is so utterly different. Fans both sides of the Atlantic who have helped 'The Gift' reach No.1 in record time knew the album was to have a Christmasy theme but that didn't stop them.
