My family just returned from an extremely informative and enjoyable day at Famugasta. Hans, aka DutchCrusader, led us through the streets presenting an historical overview of the churches, castles, ruins of Famagusta. We arrived at 10:00 walked around for two hours, then a 45 minute lunch followed by another two hours of exploration. I am posting to bring attention to those that may be interested. While Hans volunteers his time and knowledge and does not charge a fee, we donated 25 tl per head to help offset the costs of running his website and materials. For those who are interested, you can view his website, http://www.allcrusades.com/index-2.html and find his contact information.

Hello Hans,

Do you also offer tours of other towns & historical sites?

Please let me know, and I'll try to arrange something with you next Spring.

Cheers,

Eddie

HotHippo: My main interest is medieval history and my specialty are the late Byzantine (circa 1150-1191), Lusignan (1191-1489), Venetian (1489-1571) and early Ottoman (1571- circa 1600) eras in Cyprus. I do walks with anyone with a genuine interest!

Let me know (preferably via email) if you have a special wish ("what and when?") and we'll work something out.

I received several encouraging emails about 'Walks' (and even a phone call from the UK!) - please give me a choice of preferred dates if you'd like to join a walk. So I can combine requests if possible, again: minimum 4 - maximum 8. My contact details are: Hans Doeleman, email: mcf.trnc@gmail.com, mobile: +9 0533 864 5433 or Skype: dutch_crusader.

Thank you again Hans for another very interesting tour, this time around Kyrenia ( 27-02-11 )

We have now done three of the tours available and found them all a very useful start to appreciate the wonderful history of North Cyprus.

A must for anyone, visitor, resident or local.
