Car Tax (Do you have to buy a full year )

Just about to renew my road tax for my car, and I,m not sure if its possible to have a 6 month cover, does anyone know, also does the emissions test last for one year or two ?

You have to buy a full year. I believe the emission test lasts 3 years, but it's certainly more than one.

you can buy 6 months but only from the due date ie. if its due in jan you pay until july but then in july you cannot do 12 months only 6 to take you back to jan where you can then choose again

yep just done a 6 months make sure yure also not late with the tax as you get a fine on top of the tax which is about 20per cent of the amount that should have been paid

With regards to the emissions test, it is tied into the MOT and has to be carried out just prior to the MOT. The last time I renewed my road tax they only wanted to see the valid MOT document as they assume that to have a valid MOT then you also have a valid emissions test certificate. Having said that things could and do change.
