You will still find some - generally Black Whip Snakes - out and about on the rocks in the sun but mostly in the mountains. Garden type snakes are mostly fast asleep but you must always be careful anyway.

If it rains whilst the weather remains primarily sunny snakes tend to leave wet grass for rocks and pathways seeking warmth and a dry-out. As the weather gets colder they seek out long term shelter so it is best to be careful in garden sheds, gas bottle sheds, and other places of refuge. I always shake my wellies out before putting them on in the winter !

Hi cyprusjoker,

Just noticed your post.

On 15th Nov, our cat came home limping, her rear leg had a 3 inch tear in it.

Took her to the vet, who asked what happened,

told her that's the way she appeared at the house that morning.

Straight away, she said "snake bite, had 3 already this week"

Left the cat with vet, after the anti-venom injections she was back to her normal self in 5 days

Wound still healing.

Not sure if this dry hot weather has kept them out a bit longer this year :-(

Hope they're all tucked up now.

Anyone else's pets been bitten recently?

Navek

There is a new type of snake that does not hibernate at all.

According to the ladies that have been bitten, apparently it is not poisonous, so long as the bitten area is sucked immediately after being bitten for at least 30 minutes non-stop, all the poison turns to pleasure.

Are you changing gender any time soon. I have a few cousins south of the border who would not approve your kind of activities.
