Four years ago Credit West Bank had a big push for their clients to apply for their affiliated Credit Card provider, Cardplus (MasterCard) working similar to other credit cards (not charge cards), no annual fee and no interested charged if the whole amount was payed off the following month by the due date. Last year without warning a 10TL annual fee was levied and now for this year it has risen to 35TL! Great inflation rates and another banking steulth charge!

I wonder if I could arbitrary dictate what interest they should pay me on my deposit account?!

BANKERS; don't you just love them!

Garanti Mastercard and Visa are no charge. Pay off on standing order following month. No problems.

I recommend Mondial Bank - http://www.mondialprivatebank.com

They're based in Nicosia. You have to have an account open with them first before you can apply for a credit card (VISA) and have at least £2k deposited. So far I haven't been charged anything. There's no cut off date to pay your bill by, it's all online and you check and make transfer payments whenever you have the time. You don't get interest on your money tho! They must use that as their insurance if you don't pay within a reasonable time.

Sorry, don't know any more. I don't tend to take much notice of these things - as long as it's not costing me anything!

We gave up our card plus as it was quite limited for what we needed it, Garanti gave us a mastercard and so far so good so long as you pay it off every month as an earlier post said
