Hi Lili,

I know of three couples at least who can play crib and would go along on a regular basis.

Hi Lilli

No, you did use the correct spelling but there are two types, one called crib and one called cribbage, similar but slightly different rules......we play both.

Mrsgee, I am puzzled. I have been playing crib/cribbage for 58 years and this is the first I have heard that they are different, can you please enlighten me

stilluvithere,

I am from the Black Country so maybe we make up our own rules, but the one I am referring to is where there are only 2 players and each is dealt 5 cards. Nothing goes in the box, each player puts 2 in, so there are 3 per hand and 4 in the box.......just makes it a bit more difficult to make a high scoring hand I think. It is called the 'old game'.

My grandad taught it to me 50 years ago, when I was 8. Probably not played by many any more, but me and hubby play it sometimes.

I there Lilli, I haven't played cribbage for over 40 years now. I used to love the game when I played for the local 'working mens' club team when I was in my early 20's. I am interested, but it would depend on which night the club got together for games.

Mrsgee, you live and learn, the only time I have played like that is when there are 3 players, 5 cards 1 to the box and one from the deck

Look forward to playing soon hopefully Lilli

For those who have not played for a while you can brush up on your skills by playing ' Patience Crib '.

Set yourself a score to beat, I use 85.

1. Deal 2 cards to your self .

2. One to the bank.

3. Repeat No 1.

4. Repeat No 2.

5. Repeat No 1.

6. Repeat No 2. You now have 6 cards and 2 in the bank

Discard 2 cards from your hand to the bank.

Turn over top card on deck. Total score in hand

Count score in bank.

Hand and bank are not used again. Cards set aside.

Repeat above until all cards have been used.

Hope this is clear and helpful.

Really would be interested in playing but I just wish that a few more things could be played on the Catalkoy/Karakum/Arapkoy side of the island as everything seems to be on the Lapta sie of the island. Both my husband and I play - please make a big announcement when something has been sorted
