To everyone who has shown support on this issue, the Minister for the Interior has been spoken to directly and provided with the photos, etc. He has advised that if this situation occurs again, the police are to be informed and Alsancak Beledeysi will be fined. We can now only keep a watch on this to see what happens. Again many thanks for helpful suggestions and support.

Glad to hear you wont be getting any more rubbish dumped in your ravine this should not happen any where on the island especially by the local council.I really hope they dispose of it correctly in the future and not just find another remote spot to dump it in.Well done

So what happens to the rubbish that they have already dumped? Bet the minister of the Interior has not told them to remove it. Just anothet blot on the TRNC landscape. Now how many is that now?

don't make me laugh! What they've already done is either illegal or it isn't. They'll be using unmarked lorries next time I bet.

Mal, yes we appreciate that is what may well happen, but at least we shall be keeping a watch for this, especially as they pass within ten feet of our house! I think from where the rubbish is situated it would be a mammoth task to remove, probably endangering life, after all the drivers are only doing what they are told to do.

I'm sure the fine would represent the high cost of removing the rubbish. Only joking. If it was an ex-pat doing the dumping I wonder if they'd go soft on them? Anyway, I'm glad I didn't go to the Belediyesi as was suggested, waste of time.
