Hi everybody, a couple of months ago I posted a message on this forum board asking for people to name their favourite singers and/or songs. I also said that I would do my best to play as many as I could on my radio show - THE JUKEBOX SHOW - on Sunday mornings on Bayrak International. Well, the response I got was amazing. A big thank you goes out to all those who reponded. Some of you sent in short lists and some sent in long lists with your favourites, and I managed to play most, but not all of them. Some of the songs were far too long for my one hour show - some were inappropriate - and some I found difficult to find (internet probs). The list I have is coming to an end, so, I'm asking once again:-

WHO IS YOUR FAVOURITE SINGER/S AND/OR SONGS???

Post your lists on this board and I'll do my best to play them on the show.

Keep up the great work Mike, Sorry you asked me for a few choices and I didn't get around to it.

It is a difficult one to chose a favourite, at one time I would have said the beatles, But there is so much fantastic music in our lives,

Where do you start ?

I also love so much mowtown, and people such as the Isleys, Elgins, Four Tops, the list goes on and on.

Hi all, thanks for the reponse.

Johnny Lee - your dead right, there is so much fantastic music around, that's it's quite hard at times to pick out just one or two favourites. I'll play you a few Motown numbers. The next three shows have been recorded, so it will be after that.

MartinD41 - I know I have played you some songs - and great choices they were in Henley - Browne and Young. Will have a go at downloading the others singers in the coming week.

Magicart - I don't know much about Mario Lanza's music although I did play one of his songs about 18 months ago - will have a go at downloading your request.

Hi No1Doyen - I know I've I've played a few songs for you also - your choice in SEAL's music is great - I downloaded quite a few of his songs just for my own pleasure. Sorry you don't like Country & Western music, but I know that quite a few of my other listener's do.

Come on folks let's see more of you asking for - YOUR FAVOURITE SINGER/S AND/OR SONGS.

Decanddyl - I have never heard of Harvey Andrews and when I went onto the Download sites there were so few people seeding his music onto the NET that it could take some time to download one of his songs. I will giver it a try though. Did you get my Email about the last request you asked for. Send me a list of more popular singers/songs and I will be able to play you a record or two.

Yenibob - I went on to the download sites to have a go at downloading Adge Cutler - could get anything. Nobody downloading. I played 'Soldier Blue' two weeks ago.

Come on folks - send me some POPULAR singers names. Singers and songs from Rock 'n' Roll - Ballads - Jazz - American Nostalgia - Tamla Motown - Soul - Blues - Rhythm & Blues - Country - Disco - Instrumentals and many other genres of music. There is a vast range of popular music out there from the 1930's right up to the modern day.

Top Ten - I regularly play Paul Simon - I also think he's great. I Played one this morning.

I think this is so difficult, as our taste changes with our advancing years. I loved all the 60s music especially the troggs, beatles elvis , hated cliff then but love him now. I still madly passionetly in love with tom jones. So much has changed. Like magicart Mario i love, we played that at my mums funeral as it was her favourite. I still play his cd daily . i love opera, pav. botchelli dominco etc espicially safina. If I had a real favourite apart from Home thoughts from abroad and pammick you know my reasons Clifford T Ward, i love rownan keating. but most of all eric clapton the way you look tonight x

Bill - of course, you're entitled to your opinion, but:

How Can I Be Sure?

it could just be

The Windmills of Your Mind

and now you've said that

I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself.

I'm All Cried Out -

I Can't Make It Alone, so

I'll Try Anything.

Not so much singers but songs. Feargal Sharkey "A Good Heart is Hard to Find". Barry Ryan, one of twin sons of Marion Ryan singer in the 1960s. He absolutely belted out a song "Eloise" in 1968 and later perhaps in the 1990s. Obviously he never got over her

Hi, to all those who have replied

Barry Snakes - some great singers there - I also am a big fan of Mike & Mechanics

Johnny Lee - I can only play the music on my show - it's up to you to turn your radio up really 'LOUD' - will have to download 'Brassed Off' (If I can)

Lilli - is that Mario Lanza that you want me to play - also I don't watch the American talent show so I have no idea who you are talking about, let me know the name of the singer you are talking about - will play you some Opera music

LUFC1 - you must be a Leeds fan - I am a Huddersfield Town fan - best two teams in Yorkshire - I rate Sam Cooke along with Ray Charles as one of the two who got Soul music off the ground - yeah, will play him and your other requests

Jeannie - Dusty is definately a must for the show in the near future

No1Doyen - Michael Buble, I can and will do

To all those who replied - I will start to play them over the weeks starting from Sunday 19th Dec.

Hi MartinD41 - managed to download some Bad Company music - although I have to say a lot of their songs are well over 5 minutes long, which means they are rather on the long side for a one hour show - especially if I have quite a few over the time limit of 5 minutes - I play the odd long song, but not very often - have picked a couple that are on the shorter side of 5 mins - I am having problems downloading Paul Rogers and the FREE band's music as very few people are seeding their music onto the Net - will do my best though

Hi ITFC 1978 - I suspect that you are an Ipswich Town fan with a monica like that - am I right? - you've picked out a lot of very heavy rock music there which I don't play a lot of on the show - mainly because the show is aimed at popular middle stream music which a lot of my listeners prefer - I'll pick out though a couple that are not too heavy and play them - many thanks

Come on folks - keep sending in your requests for the more popular music

Thanks for all the requests folks and - KEEP THEM COMING IN - the more the merrier - I have so many now it might take quite a few weeks to get around to playing your particular request/s and mentioning your name, but I will do so - I can only play a maximum of 16 or 17 on any show because of the shows time limit of one hour.

SNAKES - I may have trouble downloading the John Wetton and the Kng Crimson & Ace bands music - not many people seeding their stuff

JimChris09 - will be playing some xmas track during my show on the 19th Dec.

Glasbury - Don't know much about the music you have asked for but I will try and download it soon - though it may take a few weeks to get around to playing some of your requests

DJ MIKE

Flossie44 - No prob with those requests - I often play Queen, Robbie and the Stones

Hi apc2010 - I've some great unusual name for bands down the years but that takes the biscuit. Flogging Molly eh! - never heard of them but I'll look them up.

My favourite name is that of a DOO WOP group who were around during the mid to late 1950's. Formed in the USA the were called - 'DICKY DO AND THE DONT'S. Yeah, for me, that takes some beating.

Come on folks, let's be knowing some more of your favourite singers and songs and I'll play them on future shows. Where are the requests for the American nostalgia singers and songs plus those bands from the British invasion on the music world in the early to mid 60's.

Give me Bryn Terfel any time, and for those who don't know how to pronounce it (and Lilli will!), it is pronounced as TerVEL, cos in Welsh an f is an ff, and an f is a v. Got it!
