The house pump is running continuously. The light against Power on the electronic unit is on and the light against Pump is on some of the time. Anyone know what the problem is?

You have leaking water somewhere..check all taps and loos for leaks in the first instance. With us it was the water tank on the roof that was the problem.

Press the reset button to see if that works, failing that check to see if you toilets are leaking,if not it could be the no return valve not doing it's job.

If you can't find and repair the problem, just switch pump on when needed. That will keep pressure in your system when you need it. Switch off overnight, for peace & quiet Mine's been gone for over 2 years now :-( Navek

Have checked for leaks but there are none and pressed the reset button but made no difference. Can a non-plumber (me) find the non-return valve and fix it?

The non-return valve is on the roof by your cold water tank, they are rubbish and go every few months, its cheaper on electric to turn your pump off and only switch it when you need to use shower etc.

The non return valve will be fitted after the pump but before the pressure switch, or it will be fitted between the pump and the ground water tank. It is usually a brass straight fitting with a round barrel shape. It should have pipe unions fitted on each end so as to make removal easy. If you can identify the valve just turn off the electric supply to the pump, turn off any water valves near the pump and undo the union nuts, after cleaning/replacing the non return valve, turn on the water and power and you should be back in business

hubby who lectures in plumbing says to change if for a double check valve from UK and you can check to see if these are not working by undoing the bolt at the side and seeing if water comes out......Make sure you fit it in the correct direction by following the arrow for direction of flow... reasonably priced and much more reliable.....hope this helps

A quick check to see if you have a leak somewhere is to turn off the 1 or sometimes 2 valves close to the pump, these should have metal handles approx 4 inches long. If you turn these off and the pump stops you could have a leak. If it doesn't stop it could be the electronic control box, the one with the lights and reset button on.

Southcoaster, I had a similar problem as I checked the leaks but could see no running water, therefore to confirm no leaks to any of the appliances I turned all the isolation valves off to each supply. If the pump stops then one by one turn each one back on to identify the location of the leak. The majority of times the leak can be found on the ball valves or supply to the toilets. If the pump remains on while all the valves are switched off then I would seek the advice of a plumber, good luck.

Turn off things one at a time, ie, one toilet, etc. if your pump stops then you should know what is causing the problem. If the pump still conyinues, you may have a leaking water tank, someone on our estate head a plant tht had its roots growing into the tank, had to remove plant and have tank resealed.

If you are still having problems Please feel free to call us, these things are usually very easy and cheap to fix. We fix this problem all the time. There is no need to settle for a sub-standard system by having to turn the pump on when you need it. I know so many people do this because they expect high repair costs. We will look for FREE and let you know how much to repair before we continue. Kind regards Steve http://www.jjslandscapes.com 0542 886 2332 info@jjslandscapes.com

If the pump is running continuously you would normally find the leak quite easily, unless you check valve back to the main supply is passing, in which case you need to check if the level is dropping in your tank. Check the pump isn't half full of air which can't be compressed by the pump, hence it runs continuously. Check at the bleed point on top of the impeller section.

Had the same problem in October. The problem was a very slight drip filling the toilet cystern up. If your pressure unit is the electronic type as against the old mechanical one it only takes the slightest drip to make the pump continue running. As suggested in ealier reply, check none of your taps has the slightest drip. Turn of the water to your toilet etc and do it one by one. If it is your toilet drop a few steradent in the cystern and leave overnight as limescale collects on the rubber seal, if it is bad change the float assembly (approx 15tl) as i had to do and just use steradent now and then.
