Just returned from Trossachs, after digging car out of knee high snow, and others dug out carpark.

Looks fantastic, but journey home took twice as long and had one skid, into snow bank, but got home o.k

It's -4 here during day, and that's just Ayrshire! Still, sun is shining, and the ski-ers, and kids are having

fun - no schools closed here though.

We've been told to expect at least six inches of snow tonight and we are south east Essex - not far from London.

In 1986, year before I first went to work in Turkey, it snowed heavily in Istanbul. It was unusually

heavy, and they could not have been prepared to cope. Schools closed, and most work stopped.

The kids were dying for that to happen again! But it didn't!

Still snowing here in Kent, cannot get car out and even if I did bugger all in the shops thanks to panic buyers, people buying 7/8 loaves and 8 or more bottles of milk, no potatoes, its like a third world here, at least we can still afford to have the heating on, one thing I would love to see is how the TCs would cope with driving on the snow covered roads, probably the same as they do there with their eyes shut and phones clamped to their ears.

Still lots of snow in Airdrie, nightshift tonight but the hospital are sending out 4x4's to get staff there. Just hope they will get us all back home tomorrow morning after another night of heavy snow. Supposed to have been away for a restful week-end in Inverary. Looks like that is cancelled as my car is about 95% buried. So much for upgrading the room to a four poster with views over the water. Wish I was in TRNC
