The Wildebeest (bless her) only. 47 years happily married. She is happy and I am married. Divorce never happened as neither of us would accept custody of the 5 children but the 10 grandchildren are great

I attended an army reunion some few years ago, we were a small unit of about 40 men and when I arrived at this meeting after an intervening period of nearly 40 years, I opened the door to the assembled crowd and thought "Oh no this is the wrong place, it is full of old men!". Then someone shouted "Look out he's here" and I had found those long lost friends again. The strange thing was that after all the hand shakes, I was surrounded by these old friends and almost as one they asked "Are you still married to the same girl?" When I answered in the affirmative, they also confirmed that they too were all still married to their original partners. Even now some seven years later, that is still the position and my wife and I have just celebrated our 45th. Must have been something the army put in the tea!!!!

Gosh, and I thought 28 years of marriage plus 5 ish years of dating was impressive .... we've been well and truly out done by loads of you!

How nice...

To the ladies out there [obviously saints!] does it get any easier though? Do they ever learn AND retain new 'tricks'?

Gotta give it to this bloke!!!

On their 50th anniversary, a wife found the negligee she wore on her wedding night and put it on.

She went to her husband, a retired military man, and asked, 'Honey, do you remember this?'

He looked up from his newspaper and said; 'Yes dear, I do.

You wore that same negligee the night we were married'

She said, 'Yes, that's right. Do you remember what you said to me that night?'

He nodded and said 'Yes dear', I said;

'Oh baby, I'm going to suck the life out of those boobs and sh@g your brains out.'

She giggled and said;

'So now it's fifty years later, and I'm in the same negligee.

What do you have to say tonight?'

He looked her up and down and said;

'Mission Accomplished'.

It would be very interesting to conduct a secret poll for those married over twenty years to see what percentage had an affair outside the marriage. Who would be bigger cheaters, which sex?

Deputy,

Logic never works with such things. I think it involves hormones and community pressure, so a balance is struck somewhere but it is most unpredictable. You never know who does what, when and where

I know many many marriages lasting "tlll death" but of course in the old days the women had no economic independence and thus had to put up with him.
