I work as a translator for an agency in Istanbul, cost is 5TL per page (1000 chars). If I can help e-mail me ally.t.t@gmail.com . I'm not in North Cyprus at the moment but if it's document translation then this shouldn't be a problem?

Thanks for that AllyTT - I emailed you a little while ago concerning the translation. I take it you cannot do medical translations and that's why you've given me David? I've emailed him already. Need this document translated urgently. Thanks again.

You can contact me on 0542 8808018, or email me on turkishlessons1to1@yahoo.com - if you want a proffessional translation.

I do not use translation software, hence it will be more than 5 tl per page, but the content can be medical or legal - it makes no difference.

bigOz, I take it you are accusing me of using translation software here in your message "hence it will be more than 5 tl per page". I work full-time as a translator for an agency in Istanbul and there is no translation software involved (other than SYSTRAN - a professional translation solution). We get paid 5-6 lira per page at most by the agencies because out here it is a competitive field. I do not think it is fair to charge someone more for the same work just because it happens to be freelance so I always stick to my regular charges.

I have no idea what you are blabbering about! But if your English is as good as your understanding of the meaning of a "translation software" then I rest my case!

You claim you are "accused of using a translation software", and that there is "no translation software involved" only to go on and state "other than SYSTRAN a professional translation solution"! Here is what the sellers of the software describe it as:

"SYSTRAN's wide-range of translation software products and solutions will help you understand foreign language content in real-time, and create multilingual documents."

It costs 30 pounds to purchase the software and onew does not need to work for a big translation organisation to use it!

For 5 TL per page, I would not get off my chair and walk to the kitchen. And how do you expect to receive payment in Istanbul for, say a 1 page 5 TL translation work?

I was only trying to make it clear that the service I offer is not the equivalent of "Google Translate" or "Babylon" which is what I am sure most people would presume from your message. As you work as a translator I am sure you know that SYSTRAN is used the world over by agencies (and I do not mean the home edition) and is essentially a built-in multi-lingual dictionary that is used as a translation aid and nothing more.

Also in my message you will see that the cost is 5TL per page (1000 chars) - as a standard A4 would contain about 3000 chars. that works out to 15TL a page. You might not get off your chair and walk to the kitchen for that amount but as I get through a minimum of 20k chars a day, I *do*. I have to, because that is the going rate offered by the agencies out here. As I travel back and forth to Cyprus all the time the payment would not be an issue either, certainly not one you should worry yourself about.
