We brits get fuelled up each time into thinking this will be it and we'll win - only for us to fall flat on our faces................

Bearing in mind our 40 year track record - perhaps its time to put Garry Monger's missus in charge and for her to use a pin to choose the squad - she couldn't do any worse that the current mob..............

I cannot believe that the decision has not already been made. Shedloads of money has already been laundered ?. Should we take the building of new stadiums as a clue ?

Who ever supplied the largest brown envelope to Mr Blatter. I wonder if he kept all of them or is he indecent enough to give the losing bidders their bribes back.

Please now ignore the question marks at post 8 ! As the multitide of FIFA officials are now gathered at this expensive junket they should vote on the proposal that the competition be known forthwith as "The FIFA World Biggest Bung Cup".

I remember few months ago Blatter talking about the Russian Bid being beautifull. The whole of Fifa is corrupt from top to bottom. They should all be locked up.

FIFA gives awards to those countries which support removing racism from sport. At a time when it is reported that racism is rife at matches in Russia FIFA sees fit to reward it with the World Cup Competition !

Fifa have released the voting figures which showed England won only one other vote apart from Britain's Fifa vice-president Geoff Thompson.

In the first round Holland/Belgium secured four, Spain/Portugal seven and Russia nine.

Russia then won an outright majority in the second round of voting.

re 17

>> ticket already booked<<

It HAS been an interesting day in this house.. got back from having been trapped in Kent's snow's and watched Russian TV news over breakfast hearing watching Putin's robust response to the Wikileaks reports on his links to the Russian mafia... then we watched the version from CNN on BBC news and fell about laughing at the different translations / clips from the interview which gave a totally different 'spin' on it...

I said to wifey that if he really had links that Russia would win the FIFA 2018 bid [ only joking ] thinking Spain / Portugal would win.. I was nearly certain of this as I wondered why Putin wasn't going to Zurich and had read this:

http://rt.com/sport/putin-miss-2018-bid/

I thought this was because they expected to lose.

Wifey - who has very little interest in footie - is now VERY proud that her country will host the bid, and their news hasn't stopped taking about it..

I doubt any games will be in Siberia :(

( cont) for sure, only getting 2 votes is AWFUL, and no doubt the media will be 'blamed' and then the FA / Premiere League will fall out.

I'm quite sure that FIFA didn't appreciate the exposure from the UK media, but we will have to hope that most delegates chose Russia because they wanted to promote the game in a largely 'unconquered' region..

Judging by Wifey's reaction.. it is working !
