Hi Paul.. could it not be in England in 2026 - or are they precluded from bidding for sometime ? I guess lots of folk will say that FIFA officials took bribes but I think it will become clear that Russia and Qatar will throw a lot of dosh at the event and FIFA wanted new territories to host. F1, Winter Olympics, and now The World Cup... if I could just afford that 2nd home in Sochi.... [ if you haven't heard of it.. you will ] I wonder if Putin will be President [AGAIN] then ;) ?

I believe the Qatar bid, did as you say message 37 state that they were going to build 5 state of the art stadia fully air conditioned and that they would be dismantled and sold to other nations after the W/C, they do in reality have the money to do these things.

they will build & renovate 12 stadiums for the world cup all of them will be fully air conditioned. one of them will be on the sea !!! i lived for 10 years there. i know the qatari government is obsessed with hosting sports events. they have the financial assets and willingness to spend alot on hosting, without looking about the financial revenues that will come from such events !!

PEPSI splashed out £2.4BILLION on a Russian drinks firm just FOUR HOURS before the World Cup vote was announced. The US soft drinks giant bought a controlling stake in Russia's Wimm-Bill-Dann in its biggest ever overseas deal. The timing will raise yet more eyebrows given Russia's success in the Fifa vote. Many think the result was decided BEFORE the delegates even entered the room.

But the 'many' would have to ask themselves if Wimm-Bill-Dann - a *Russian* firm would sell out to a US company if they though Russia winning the bid would up their price/ value.... Sorry, apc2010 this theory doesn't 'fly' ...

Some of you have some weird misinformed ideas about Qatar! Like in Oman, the present ruler of Qatar took over from his father to guide the nation into the 21st century without the mistakes made by the UAE etc. Qatar has one of the most progressive educational policies in the region. Earlier this year I attended a regional conference where female speakers from Qatar where to the fore in letting delegates know about the modernisation of the education system and most of us were very impressed. If you have watched any of the promotional adverts/videos for the Qatar bid then you would not be shocked at their successful result. Recently a friendly match between Argentina and Brazil was played in front of thousands of soccer mad fans in Qatar. The green/solar technology that is to be used to form a cooling band of air above and in the stadia has been a major factor in the successful bid as has the idea to build stadia which can be dismantled after the event and rebuilt in other countri

Just watched Russian News... they ( Putin) stated that the English were blackmailing FIFA to vote for them - that's a good reason why 'we' lost .. FIFA 'rejected' such allegations of corruption in the same way Wikileaks suggested that many Ambassadors think Putin gets the Mafia to get things done.. Wifey now thinks that the Wikileaks sites and English claims of corruption in FIFA are 'propaganda' are inter-related and simply won't listen to 'reason' ... 'BBC propaganda' ..... I guess it will be separate beds.. as I fell about laughing at her naivety..
