Many years ago, my grandma used to tell me a story in Nicosia about a tiny dwarf called Itchin-ditichin-doitchin-higglety pigglety- Q-block-House and his best friend "i"...........there was a king called Fizz and his three sons called sheck, shecksherfreck and sheckserfreckshersromie and his three daughters called bip, bipsy- bip and pispsybipsy-babymere...... and that is all I can remember.............does anyone else know this story as I have been trying to find this for the last ten years, and nobody has ever heard of it.....

yes Deniz1 tried that so must now rely on people's memories, there must be other people apart from me and my sister who remembers this........forgot to mention that 'i' is the name of the giant........!!

Shrimp - is it possible that your Grandmother made up this story herself, just for you?

yes Jeannie, I suppose it is possible but then if she had made it up (and from what we remember it was a blinking good story ) there would surely have been other stories too.....I wouldnt have put her in a literary circle by any stretch of the imagination.........but as time goes by and nobody else has ever heard of it then yes can only assume she did make it up......or someone she knew made it up..................shame!

A very wise old King wants an honest child to take his place on the throne.

He gives each of his 3 sons a pack of flower seeds and tells them that the one who grows the most beautiful flowers from these seeds will have his throne.

Six months pass and the king checks the flowers.

The first 2 had beautiful flower beds while the last child had nothing in his plot but weeds and no flowers.

Yet, the king chose this last child to have the throne.

Why?

Wrong Gavin.

The third son was the only son who never cheated. The King had baked the seeds so that they would not grow. This meant that the first two sons didn't use the seeds from the packets they were given.

Thanks hilda, I have searched and searched but to no avail.......and Lilli, yes my father was in the RAF and we were based in Nicosia, we had many happy years there but sadly my father had a heart attack at the young age of 32 so that was the end of that until we grew up and then we came back for most summers.......We plan to retire there within the next couple of years......x

Bill, the effect would have been the same would it not?

Only the third son didn't cheat... he planted the seeds his father provided and his plot was all weeds... the other two cheated and didn't use the seeds....

Either way only son three was the winner.

Maybe no1/doyen, you could write me a story re these charactors that I have mentioned??? (The King was called fizz as that was the noise he made when he flicked the ash off his jacket). The giant's name was "i" but pronounced ey to rhymme with key............that is all I can remember, but please be my guest and maybe between us we can resurect another grim fairy tale.....??
