We have just been advised that we need to buy tinkered water to fill our pool as this is not allowed to be done initially from the domestic water reservoir. What do we have to do please??

Many thanks - Jackie

You could be right - it could be a typo - but still unclear what we have to do.

Yes - it will be Tankered water - this is normal for Cyprus as it is illigal to fill swimming pools from the domestic supply. Your builder / pool constructor really should do the initial fill up for you, but if they wont you will need to order the tankers. Expect to pay between 7 and 10 YTL per ton - and you will need around 40+ tons for a 8x4 metre plus balance tank. If you are appointing a swimming pool maintenance company, they should be able to supply the water - and try negotiating on the cost. Good luck

Jakki - I should have said - we use Pools R Us - which is run by an English lady - they have been very good over the past couple of years. They will sort out the water as well - let me know if you would like further details.

Jackie - I know Perry has already said this but just in case you missed it, it is illegal to use the domestic supply for your swimming pool at any time not just the initial fill. You also need to make sure your builder has not connected the pool to the mains as this is also illegal.

lol, maybe it means you have to tinker it in, or if you get tired maybe phone a tanker and they will do it for you.

Jakki

There is an alternative to water, I recommend cement. It does not evaporate and once you have filled your pool you will never ever have to fill it again, also maintenance free and you will not feel so guilty about the water shortage on the Island.

Willing to to discuss this with you further if you are interested in saving the islands rapidly diminishing water resources.

alsancakjack - your offer is very tempting but we don't feel too guilty about using water for our pool, I mean it's not free is it?? It will probably end up costing us thousands by the sound of it!! But we have done 'our bit' having to share hotel pools just a little luxury for us particularly for my boyfriend who works very hard indeed.

rocky - I hope the only 'tinkle' we hear will be from the ice cubes in our gin and tonics!!
