Does anyone know why there seems to be so many powercuts in Ozankoy? The frequency seems almost daily here although some seem to be overnight? I have spoken to others in different areas and they don't seem to have as many.

Perhaps the lines in your area is overloaded and the fuse on the 11 KV side keeps blowing. They should redistribute the loads if only kib-tek was sufficiently able to do it. They are a hopeless lot.

Hi I was going to post the same message the cuts seem to be daily but not for long between 1-2 hours and also approx every other night. A real nuisance because they make the timer wrong for our hot water in the morning!

Ozankoys, you should "programme" your missus only once to readjust your timer when required. They are much better at it

A friend contacted his brother who works at the electricity board, He said the problem is with something in Nicosia which keeps tripping/blowing when demand increases. He said this might go on every day for some month to come till it's sorted.

I found it hard to believe, hopefully not true!

Hi ert in Cyprus I do not believe that explanation either, as around 2 -3 in the morning I would not think that there is much demand? Now people are not using aircons either the demand must be a fraction of what is was in the summer & we did not keep getting cuts then.

Elko2 I am the missus & I am fortunate enough to sleep soundly through the night time power cuts! It is only when I get up expecting to have a hot shower that I realise the timer has yet to click on as it is 1-2 hours slow!

Ozankoys, sorry for the mix up. Well, your job is much easier, it is easier to train men for such chores when the misus demands it or else

A thought Could the Cratos Hotel being Lit up like Blackpool every night be having an effect on power supply to Ozankoy and Catalkoy?

Yes that certainly might be a possibility would not like to pay Cratos electricity bill!

Elko surely you must know that men are virtually impossible to train to a good standard however much one tries!

It's getting on my nerves too.

They were definitely doing maintenance in October when we had some very long daytime cuts.

Since then & for the last 3 weeks it's got steadily worse. 3 cuts yesterday, 2 short ones today, but only ever this side of Girne. How can this be due to a problem in Lefkosa??

It went off just after midnight on Sunday morning & 2 am another day. They can't be doing maintenance at 2am in the morning surely.

I heard the turbine in the power station is knackered. There was an explosion there a couple of weeks ago and I heard that the one of the generators blew up. There has been no servicing at the power station so I suppose like a car engine, it will just stop. They have cut us off here in Arapkoy every day for the past 2 weeks. Luckily we have a generator so we are ok.

Don't panic!!!!! Its all a practise to get us ready for the General Strike! - plan number 1 - Its all a practise so it can be switched off suddenly at midday on Christmas day and nobody will complain - plan number 2 - Its to ensure nobody can register their problems with the BRS website - plan number 3 - Its to prove to the Government that the electricity should not be privatised - plan number 4 - Its because of the rain - failed plan - Its to ensure enough overtime has been paid before Christmas - Top Plan!!!!!!

Its Cyprus - candle prices are high at this time of year............. You got to laugh.
