Can anyone tell me why for the last three weeks we have experienced at least one power cut every day and yesterday it was three. Sometimes its only off about 20 minutes.

Could Cratos Hotel being lit up like Blackpool every night be an influencing factor?

I was told by my Cypriot neighbour that its a deliberate ploy in protest to the changes the government are proposing. :=)

The evening poer failures are always around 5pm, is that when everyone is putting the ovens on to cook the evening meal. Will it be 12.00 on Christmas Day?????

Its a ploy by the power workers to gain sympathy from their customers for the hardship they are undergoing.

Not sure if its working, but expect support in Catalkoy to be pretty low.

Rocker,

I remember Christmas Day 2005. No electric from 10am to 7pm. Although the Turkey had been cooked the night before I still 7 veg to prepare and needed the oven to keep the cooked veg warm whilst the rest cooked. We ended up cooking 3 veg at 5pm and doing everything by candle light. The next 2 Christmas' we spent at the Malpas Hotel to ensure we had a nice day....even if the electric went off.

Official answer obtained by a turkish cypriot. Our equipment is over heating due to excessive use of electricy so we have to turn it off to let it cool down which takes about an hour. My question is why did it not happen in the summer when air con was being used full blast by a lot of people, also why only Catalkoy and Ozankoy are affected are we the only excessive users? we had three yesterday but only lasting about 30mins each time. So is the equipment cooling down faster? I am sure many people will be going to Digiturk with inoperable boxes soon. I m sure they will be very happy about that.

Cratos would appear to be using a lot so perhaps it's not the residents of Ozankoy/Catalkoy that are the excessive users but the hotel and it's guests. The problems only seem to have occurred since the place became fully operational!

You cannot blame Cratos for the lack of a reliable electricity source as it does not take a genius to work out their anticipated demand.

The blame lies fair and square on Kibtek for not foreseeing the demand, and planning accordingly.

The trouble is all part of the last minute Cypriot way of life, whereby they only think about things when they go wrong.

The quicker Turkey takes over the running of the Country, the better.
