Just heard that they have fired Hughton, as no doubt believe they should be higher up the table than 11th.

When will this dinosaur of a club realise they are lucky to be where they are.

I do hope they get relegated this season.

DN -There's no way that Shearer will take over while the fat shopkeeper owns the Club but at least Chris Hughton left us with a never to be forgotten derby day result.

Grey - didn't say that they did but when both of the Clubs are in the same division it's the 2 results that matter to BOTH sets of supporters.

One of the worst decisions I've seen. Ok, the guys only starting out, but look where he's got them, thyr in the top half of the league sitting pretty in 11th. OK last two away games have been poor, but c'mon. Wait till Jan give him some money and lets see what happns.

To gain promotion and be sitting in the top half of the division near xmas is good going. I'm sure if the board had been offd tht at the strt of the season theyd have accepted it.

In relation to the derby, so would it be fair then jimmy to say tht if Newctle were bottom of the leage with three points (6-0 win over sunderland) the fans would be happy?

They should get rid of Ashley and get someone who knows about football to run the club.

West Ham are rock bottom and they still have Grant as Manager!

Gazza is said to be as daft as a brush. Even if he never gets sober, I doubt he would be daft enough to take on managing Newcastle. Probably good enough to be in goal though or should that be in jail ?

Jimmy G, One swallow does'nt make a spring, was a dam good result and well a deserved derby win, can only hope the boot is on the other foot(exuse the pun) on the return visit. The fat controler is a well known arseole, but his antics will always create a smile on Wearside, rumour has it Quinny give him the money to buy the club so we could have a giggle. Yes the fat controler has definatlly won the Dixie Normus 2010 Undercover Makem of the Year award.

As a fan who goes to matches when not in cyprus, the Houghton sacking has been coming for weeks. Nobody in their right mind would take the job while the fat shopkeeper owns the club, the sooner he sells the club the better. However while HOUGHTON did a good job overall, in my opinion he was not the manager to take us forward as he could not see how a game was panning out to make the correct substitutions to swing the game. He also remained loyal to some players who are not up the job, namely Jonas, Ameobi, Simpson, Nolan, and Guthrie.

This is as far forward as they can get....its reverse from now on.

Less than 12 hours after sacking the manager they drop to 12th.....its an omen.

DN - yes in MA you now have your own icon in the same way that we revere Sir Lawrie but it won't be in MA's interests financially to let us drop one division again let alone two!!! It's a soap opera, but it's taken Corrie 50 years to have a rail crash yet we seem to manage it at least once a season!!!

And why cant they move forward? Give a decent manager the resources, 50.00 supporters every home game, huge income ( cheapest ticket recently £42 ) the whole club has been mismanaged for years, not only by the fat shopkeeper but by the Hall family before. Still we have the most passionate supporters in the Premiership.

Houghton has been operating without the financial clout you need, thats why Keegan left.

they are in the premiership with a championship team , fans need to realise they are only an average team , to much is expected of them , they will never be a consistent top 15 team , yo yo springs to mind , while ashton is in sole control ?

The Maggies always hang their Manager but it is the players who are out on the pitch - they have to do their job. The manager got them back into the premiership but that counts for nowt with them. A lot of other teams would love to be in 11th position in the Prem. Loosing their manager at this stage of the game is not good for the team.

Cyprustom, we could all do with a picture of Beardsley's face, to keep the kids away from the fireplace. Who's the fat controlers next victim to manage the skunks, its got to be someone cheap thats been out on a limb for a while. Curbishly gets my vote, anyone with any better bets out there.

Rumours are that Pardew was in talks about taking over some 10 days ago.

Have to say the vast majority of comments about this are from people that have no idea about Newcastle. I am sat in Shanghai airport waiting for my flight back to the Uk and will be making the journey on Saturday from Newark to Newcastle to watch my beloved team who I have supported for over 50 years. Most so called reporters and other fans will happily have a dig at the Toon but fail to acknowledge that we the supporters just support our team through thick and thin whatever happens, we know the current Cockney Owner is a total pillock but there is little we can do about the Hughton situation. 90% of NUFC supporters disagree with his sacking but we will still continue to do one thing and that is support our team. We are not the glory supporters of some clubs, we simply are black and white to the bone with the third highest attendance's in the Premiereship. So whoever is the manager, the fans will still turn up because unlike some we are true supporters!!!!!!!!!!!! Howay the Lads

Well said Gallowgate - but I sincerely hope that someone in the not too distant future comes along and buys our Club from him. I know that that too can bring it's own dangers but anyone's got to be better than the fat shopkeeper - he's already got the ground looking like another branch of Sports Direct with the OTT signage. But there will be a stayaway baclklash if Pardew is appointed - even from some season ticket holders.

Disaster for the toon, Pardew's not worth a toss, time skunk fans showed their discontent and walk, leave St James empty over Christmas, and send the fat controler on his way, until he's outed the club is doomed.

That club never ceases to amaze me, Pardew has a history of alienating himself with his players, but maybe that's what the fat controller want's, then he can get some cash back by selling what decent players he has left.

Length of contract is just to give Pardew a hefty wedge when Ashley sells the Club. DN thanks for the show of support & I agree that a boycott is the only way - all Ashley cares about is footfall not football.

Alan Pardew?

Is this the same Alan Pardew who took Charlton from the premiership to the Championship and then baled out as they went into the League 1, and has since been fired by Southampton?

Oh dear,

Alan Pardew has admitted that other managers have questioned his decision to become the new boss at Newcastle.

The Magpies, who controversially sacked Chris Hughton on Monday, have used seven different managers over the last five-and-a-half years.

Is Pardew shrewd or what.

No doubt a good severance package added on as well.

Newcastle were 8\1 best odds available on Tuesday for relegation, now backed down to 9\2.

The question is who will buy Andy Carroll in the January transfer window...could it be Chelsea?

The antics at Newcastle United never cease to amaze me.I dont really understand why Hughton lost his job in the first place. To keep Newcastle up would have been an achievement,in its self.Alan Pardew is a journey man who makes his money from the severance payments he recieves by being a failure as a manager. No top manager would touch this particular job with a barge pole,as has been proven by the lack of interest, from Jol,and Martin Oneill.

Newcastle are averaging around 45,000 for their home attendances this season,7,000 down on the last time they where in the top flight.I wonder what their average attendance will be come the end of the season.Shame on you Ashley, you are selling these great supporters down the river, once again. This time it could be the last straw for many thousands more.Vote with your feet Geordies,

Grey.
