Netball teams in Kyrenia area.

Hi,



I have just moved to the area and am trying to find out if there are any netball teams in the area or any other women's sports teams or gym classes?

Im sorry to say that there isnt any netball teams over here. I tried to get a team together when i first came here but there was no where that has a netball court.



There are lots of people that want to play but nothing ever came of it.



If you can find some people i will also try again as there is a qualified umpire here and i know that she is interested.



We would have to play agaist each other that is the only problem, unless each area could get a netball team together and we could try and start a comp.

Even just a couple of teams would be good Jodie. Something to get my fitness back up and meet people!

This subject has come up several times before. I would be interested although it would probably get tedious with the same two teams. Still, you've got to start somewhere......



There may be courts (added recently) at Sunny Lane School in Alsancak - perhaps someone can verify?



If not, anyone for tennis??

I know Molly ive been trying to get something together and have put it on here numerous times but never get the number's thats why i said if people can email me that would be great.



My son goes to Sunny Lane (BANC) so when i collect him ill ask if we can use the court of an evening or weekend's and how much it would be.

Girls, if i can get a team together i have spoken to a few friends in the uk who have teams and they have said they would come over for a holiday and have a couple of friendly games agaist us.

Why not contact the local papers and generate some publicity? Sounds like a great idea for a news feature with picture. And such a refreshing change from posts where to go boozing, eating etc. Good luck!

I'm sure numbers could be boosted by those who perhaps don't live in the TRNC but visit regularly. My partner is over at least six times a year and she certainly needs to get back into shape although I haven't told her yet!

Hi Guys, Just to keep you posted.

I have had numerous emails off of people who are interrested thank you so much, so far i have had 17 people interested and another possible 12.



Im still waiting for the British Academy (former Sunny lane School) to get back to me regarding the use of the court. Once i have heard from them i will keep you posted.

Im just waiting to hear from ESK (the English school of Kyrenia) with regards to the courts. I have a friend that has also been asking them so hopefully we will hear something back within the next week or so.

I find it very hard to believe that someone has not had the hindsight to invest and sponsor adult sports facilities over here.

A netball/basketball court....snooker tables......

Lapta beledesi have made a wonderful football pitch, which is used most nights by the locals..That speaks for itself.
