The cost of the meter is not as much as stated in the above, we paid approx TL380 for the deposit after the bungalow had been passed of KIBTEK, will dig out receipts and confirm.

Wont argue with anyone else and what they paid but I had mine fitted last Sept and paid TL 380. Went to Kibkek office in Girne and paid two bills, one deposit and one fitting, both less than TL 200

It all depends on the cost/size of the site installation ie if it is an apartment block with 20 properties then the kibtek costs are split between 20 owners, or as many apartments there are. In the case above msgs 4 and 5 it relates to 5 properties on a single site, one being mine and indeed the costs are as stated and yes second hand meters and 6 weeks delay. It is a total rip off, but we have, as usual hobsons choice.

rowlo;

I was there on 3 different occasions with 3 different person(owners) to do 3 different properties, though all on same site. All 3 paid the same amount. There must be some explanation as to why 'others' have paid less but I dont think it's the second part in your comments.

The biggest joke is the price of water meter(1600+tl)..............$30 in China...........

Well said yorgo, you are more than welcome, and to all the cynics there are still some people in TRNC who are not corrupt and out for themselves.

Those others who revel in taking people for a ride will eventually pay the price, whatever that is.

Having said that it is the same in every country of the world! An almost total lack of any morals.

lets not go off track theres serious conflicting price irregularities so either they make it up as they go along or no one in office really knows

Msg 14. You may have some validity in what you say, but the final cost is definitely based on the project costs divided by the number of properties involved served on the site. + the meter and deposit which I believe is a standard price. Otherwise, as you say all accounts would be for the same sum.

Hi this is what we paid in October 2010 for one apartment in a block of 12 in Girne:

279 tl deposit + 1685.39 tl meter = 1964.39 tl exchange rate at that time made it 967 stg

In case anyone is interested the water meter cost 720 stg it is the new pre-paid type

Daylight robbery springs to mind but they have you over a barrel

Just a thought, can someone help with what should a meter (electricity and water ) should cost for 3 bed villa?

And what the deposits should be too?

If people are having theirs stolen, how do others secure theirs?

My husband is in esentepe now trying to sort things out and I know he wont question any ridiculous price. suggested..

also, my son (UK electrician) asked why figures of £1000+ have been quoted as the meter in the villa they are staying in is similiar to UK standards and surely must be similiar to uk prices (ho ho!).

Help would be appeciated at it is their first time over 'sorting' things out and are a bit lost ...

thanks (I can get them to call anyone if you email me your details ....berniceldickenson@yahoo.co.uk )
