Beware : Snakes still around

Just to let you know there's still snakes out and about in the Tatlisu area! We thought we would be pretty safe walking the dogs at this time of year until we had a close encounter with a viper this evening. Luckily it slithered off in the opposite direction but it had been basking quite peacefully in the late afternoon sun. According to a TC friend of ours, rain will put paid to any late lurkers - hopefully we'll get the rain that is forecast. Good for the gardens and good for getting rid of snakes!

Many snakes to be found in the Girne Law Courts throughout the year!

On the contrary once rain has ceased snakes seek out rocks, pathways, tracks and anywhere they can find sunshine to dry out and regain lost body heat. In the depths of winter when it is colder they try and find a permanent refuge until the Spring arrives. If there is further rain whilst the temperatures are unseasonably high I would remain wary of snake activity. Surprised that your friend offered such as advice because in my experience many locals are terrified of snakes as many are of dogs.
