At last I got my speeding summons today

So I got my first summons today for allegedly speeding in Famagusta in August 2009. The first date for appearence is 5th January. I will plead "not guilty" and naturally we will get a new date for the hearing. I suppose it will be a week later. I will keep you posted whatever happens. I must say I will be looking for it more than the upcoming Christmas or the New Year.

You can come and visit me in prison next.

If it helps and if it is true........apparantly if they cannot proove that the cameras had been calibrased (sp??) within the last so many days of the date you were caught speeding, the ticket is null and void......this apparantly applies in the UK, but no sure if it applies to Northern Cyprus.....worth enquiring maybe..............just found this out.......which is why they are apparantly doing away with alot of cameras here, they havent the manpower or the finances to keep them updated every few days!!!!!!!!! Worth checking this out but did hear it on good authority.................Best of luck...and merry Christmas!!!

August 2009 is a long time ago, with the best of intentions it would be hard to remember who was driving your car that day. I can’t remember who was driving mine.

Maybe a copy of the photograph would help my show some evidence, then you can get back to the subject of the results of the calibration test prior to the alleged speeding offence, by whoever

Can't remember mate it was a long time ago but I am sure it was no more than 20KPH. Having said that it is a good job I wasn't stopped and breathed. Damn camera must need calibrating.

If the vigil did help bring it forward, I am so glad I did the vigil. I have been hopefully expecting this summons to come for so many years, so this is my lucky day. Ooooh, I intend to go to town with it. I am soooo happy. I bet the attorney for the police will not be so happy. I know them all and they all know me. Of course friendship is one thing, business is another. I will put up the date for the trial if anybody wish to come and enjoy the day. I am not asking for any help and neither do I need any. I can cope myself, thank you very much

That is a very good question. I bet they don't know the difference. They are charging me with dangerous speeding which really depends on many factors but their evidence is simply the fixed speed camera. Need I say any more? No, I am not saying any more because somebody may be reading this

There is no doubt in my mind that there is absolutely no connection between the vigil and the sumnmons. This is my honest opinion. In any case, it wass a favour for me to send me such a summons. I have been away from the courts for too long, so now I feel much better

As I understand it Elko doesn't pay speeding fines (even though he was speeding) because he doesn't believe in the use of speed cameras. I could have got that wrong but from previous postings by Elko it seemed clear.



Can we follow those rules we like and just ignore those we don't and if so, where does that lead us?

The same old Cypgap, never changes. The answer is very simple: It leads you to face the music i.e. face the punishment if found guilty. The same applies to all and I never complain about it. I never ask for favours and never get any.



Your evaluation is wrong. I do believe in Speed Cameras but I want them to be used properly and responsibly i.e. have them calibrated properly. Apart from that I would prefer Average Speed Cameras i.e. those that measure your average speed over a long strecth but that is besides the point.

PS: My information is that speeding tickets prior to August 2009 have been set aside for various legal reasons but I have not had it verified yet, only a hearsay from a few policemen and government attorneys.
