Pugwash: It is most probably (the remains of) an ancient Greek Orthodox church of rustic style without known (medieval) history. Doğanköy (former Greek name: Thermia) was a "chiftlík", in Cyprus a village consisting of some poor quality farms often built from mud bricks. Rumour goes that some English sailors were buried in the graveyard of the church.

Location and situation in 1878 (Kitchener map): [ http://is.gd/iBCkb/1878_map_to_inform_Pugwash ].

Pugwash: In the (copies of) medieval documents from 1220 in my possession I have not found any mention of Thermia (now Doğanköy). The village must have been an unimportant location in the Byzantine?/Frankish or early/middle Ottoman Turkish era.
