Into two. thats what Im hearing from both north and south. The 1960 agreements seems to have no ground. Will they move the troops and give back whatthe south want. answes on a postcard

Lilli, the island is already split and has been since 1974. The UN will do the honours and officiallise and legalise it quite soon despite what our cousins think in the southern lands.

When Ban sees no movement by January, he will call it a day. I see my friends in the south are still going about not having any time frames. They couldn't see it if it hit them right on the nose. Unusual really considering the size of an average southern cousin hooter.

you have argued from a personal and business viewpoint and very candidly too,

that the division of the two cypruses is a nightmare for many people



however there is a strong case for the "humpty dumpty" scenario

that the whole goddam place is far too split to mend, whatever ranks as good or bad

in the individual's personal line-up



as regards turkey formerly annexing the north I can only see a huge international backlash

for little positive benefit

IMHO - TK should leave it as it is but they should agree to allow ROC to use their ports and maybe overflights in their airspace, in exchange for direct Ercan flights. I think many countries would then see the wood for the trees and recognise TRNC.

There have been enough precedents set by countries splitting and seperating along ethnic lines the most obvious example recently being the now Czech republic and the Slovak republic. All avenues have been tried and exhausted I personally think it would be best for all parties if the seperation is formalised and the TRNC becomes a sovereign state.
