President Derviş Eroğlu has said that with every passing day, both the Cyprus Turkish people and the Greek Cypriot people are loosing faith that a solution will emerge from the ongoing Cyprus negotiations process. Explaining that it was not possible to turn a blind eye to this reality, the President said he discussed the issue with his collocutors at the negotiations table.

Referring to the ongoing Cyprus negotiations process, the President said it was his aim to find a just and permanent solution that would be accepted by the Cyprus Turkish people and allow them to live with their honor.

‘Yes the negotiations are continuing but it would be wrong to say that we have reached a point where a solution can be found’ said Eroglu and added that ‘until a solution is found I will continue to say that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is a sovereign state and its people also live in sovereignty.’

Noting that although some circles are angered by his statements, the President said he is not in a position to deny the realities on the island because he is the President of this state and was chosen by its people.

‘It’s the people who gave me the duty to search for ways to find a solution to the Cyprus problem’, said the President.

there can be no solution untill the property issue is sorted and that will be never simple as . if christophias was to back down on his governments position of former owners having first right to decide to return or restitution it would be political suicide .

hes getting a pasting down south as they say hes made to many concessions allready.

lilli a phrase " the passage of time " as started to be used by diplomats and like when refaring to the cyprus problem , thirty seven years and counting and the longer it goes the worse it will be for our freinds down south.

ive stated many times on here its my thinking that a solution to the cyprus problem will be eventually forced on it by an international conference. ramussen the head of NATO is pushing for this that i know. EU/NATO co,opperation is being disrupted by the cyprus issue and as you say lilli everyones fed up with it .

I wish my cousins from the south of the border would get with the times. It's laughable that they still insist on first choice when even the ECHR qualified and expressed the opinion that only those who lived in the property for the first 14 years of their life can claim that, and everybody else will be entitled to loss of use and compensation.

Get with it people before it is too late. The final deadline January is fast approcahing.

Just applying that rule solves the problem with how many GCs will be allowed north and considering it has already been agreed in the EU Muhtar X has not got a leg to stand on. I know that the Original Cypriots were pirates but I never figured Muhtar X for Blackbeard.

As far s how many Turks will be allowed to stay, perhaps they should have though of that before they drove the Turkish Cypriots out of Cyprus first with the enclaves and then with economic suffocation. Like I said before we can decide that for ourselves. When you are asked your opinion perhaps you should then say but till then I can assure you no one is listening. Save your breath.
