The delegation from the Turkish Tourism Investors Association was also received by the Minister of Tourism, Environment and Culture Kemal Dürüst. Minister Dürüst welcomed the delegation by expressing the belief that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will gain its sovereign, reputable and contemporary position within the international world with investments made by motherland Turkey.

Minister Kemal Dürüst explained that any investments that motherland Turkey makes in the TRNC would be equal to Turkey’s protection of the TRNC and help the Republic gain its reputable identity in international terms.



Noting that investments can also contribute to the process of political recognition of the TRNC, the Minister made a strong call to Turkish investors to choose the TRNC for investment.

For his part, the President of the Investors Association Turgut Gür said they want to see the TRNC as the heaven of tourism, freed from embargoes.

He stated that the tourism sector will very much help the further development of the TRNC.

I can think of a few things other than tourism that needs sorting that will help the development of the TRNC.

We all know that there are only a limited amount of tourists that come here. You are right Hector, if they really want to get more tourists here then they need to roll their sleeves up and get things sorted.

bill they are working on opening the ports in turkey in response to ercan and famagusta port being open to international freight, but this is the cyprus saga and it could go on for years. if it was to become a reality and ercan was open from say feb 2011 you would see an increase in tourist year on year but thats exactly what the greek cypriots dont want.
