I once spent Christmas in the Caribbean - lobster on the beach etc. How I longed to be home in front of the fire, real Christmas tree and carols - never again!!!

If I had a choice it would be the Caribbean for me.

Hi Jakki - well, I've had just about enough of freezing these last few weeks. We're off to Perth, WA, on Friday for some of that sun

Merry Christmas and a Very Happy New Year.

We're supposed to be hosting a dinner party this evening for our friends that live near Tunbridge Wells - they are snowed in and can't make it!!!

I've got my fingers crossed that we will get away tomorrow from Birmingham. Lot of snow here in Wales but hopefully the main roads will be okay. Sun for me every time had enough of the white stuff now.

my family are planning on driving from Kent to Devon on Christmas Eve....looks unlikely.....they are due to have eight inches of snow in the next couple of hours...........my daughter and son in law just made it yesterday against all odds......love christmas, love snow ..........hate it when it disrupts travelling and special family times........

Gatwick closed due to 8inch of snow, my son just had his flight to Fuerteventura cancelled from Manchester.

Terrific news here too - just heard that all terminals at Heathrow are closed (thanks, Navek) with more snow expected throughout the rest of today and tomorrow and the next day.....................................

I only hope they're cleared by Friday. Fingers crossed

Keep the faith Jean, a lot can happen in six days. Fingers crossed that you get away safely, I know how much this trip means to you.

To all others hoping to travel to visit family and friends, hope things turn out well.

Hi Jeannie, we're off to Istanbul on Friday from Heathrow. Might see you there, if you can wave your hands up in the air...so I can recognise you. Have a lovely time in Perth and bring me some sunshine back here in Kent. Snow's really heavy now in Kent. Regards Sylvie
