Hi all would like some help here, What happens if someone has your IP address, What dose this mean and what would it entail ? What could someone else do with it too...Could they get into all my details on my laptop....would they use my password...I have for everything. Can they become me ! Help I have no idea what an IP address is and from information given to me this afternoon I am now very worried..you often here me say what happens if one gets hacked.a virus and the likes..How would I change an IP address or all of my passwords...AHHHH help. Should I take it to a shop to sort out....But saying all the above I have an idea well I think I do ) on how it might well have happened.. BLOOMING ELL I need HELP with this one I think !

the ip address of your pc you can easily accessed via any other pc given both are connected to internet and have windows xp as the OS.



Steps

Goto Control panel --> System --> Remote Tab --> Enable Allow users to connect remotely to this computer.

This should be done to pc which you want to access.



[Note :- This can cause negative effects and can allow others to access your pc if its not well protected with passwords and also if someone can crack the password down and so keep changing the passwords all the time.]



Now from you pc where you want to access the home pc



All Programs --> Accessories --> Communication --> Remote Desktop Connection



And enter the ip address of your home pc and then you are in.

Thanks but so sorry no good telling me what to do about it, go here,go there, Its all Chinese and French, or Dutch to me ! Can they also make my laptop crash...whatever that means ) OMG..I would have no idea how to fiddle with an IP address ! Now I would not even trust a few on here ! sorry.

I can assure you someone is being me ! through my laptop somehow, always though there was a little man in here..

very confoooozing for little ol me ! My guess and its only I have to somehow get another IP address and change my passwords on everything I have..would I be right in thinking on those lines. :(

an IP address is not a secret, it's set by your ISP provider, and will usualy change every 30 days, it is not practical to try and hide an IP address or even be concerened about it being known, so it's pretty useless to anyone. All someone can determine from an IP address is your general geographic location thats all.

Your IP address is like a footprint and goes where ever you go on the net.



Your IP address will not give someone access to your computer but it is one of the things that is needed to access your computer. It will take someone to the front door of your computer as it were but it won’t open the door. Just make sure you have an up to date Internet Security and all should be well. If you have not got a fire wall then conceivable some could have relatively easy access to your computer.



(If you surf the net with something like “ninja net” you will not leave your IP address if you are up to stuff you don’t want to be trailed then it could be of you http://www.ninjacloak.com ).

My IP addy (today) is xxx.123.118.234 and shows I'm in Yorkshire.. when I'm in SW England ;)



Don't worry.. 'they' have to have a lot more info to get to your bank account

Spider. What 'may' have happened is....someone has switched on your computer....opened cyprus 44...and as your password has been saved, they have gained immediate access...no password necessary. You can go to your 44 profile and change the password to stop anything happening again. Do not save your password to your computer....memorise it instead.

Last night was last night..I am asking if maybe someone has had the use of my laptop and can access all and everything.

Yes you can change your pin number`on the dongle, by going into settings and clicking revise. However, even if someone takes your dongle and plugs it into another computer, it will not give anyone access to your information.



Your information is stored on your laptop...not on the dongle.
