Dont know about Lapta but any of the street lottery sellers or the lottery office in Girne.

Card is for 8 lines and cost 4tl at the lottery office or 4.5 tl from other ticjket sellers. You can put in the ticket for 1 -2 - 3- or 4 weeks.

The Girne office is oposite the police station. Far end of large white building on right of road.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Carndi. There are apparently Turkish/TRNC New Year lotteries which is what I am interested in playing.

Are you refering to the big Police Station where the Wednesday market takes place???

Ther police station by the market is the one.

The lottery you are refering to is the New Year lottery. Tickets are 32tl and give you a set of numbers or you can buy half a ticket,16tl. They can be purchased wherever they sell the normal weekly lottery tickets lottey .

Sorry Carndi, you are not quite right.

The TRNC New Years Eve lottery is 15tl a ticket.

The Turkish New Year Lottery is 32tl for all full ticket; you can also buy half shares; quarter shares in the Turkish New Year lottery as well.

Need to specify when you purchase that you want either Turkish or TRNC 'New Year' lottery tickets which are different from the normal lottery tickects

Wiseoldboy.

I was not aware that there were two draws.

When I win the 35,000000 I will not be interested in any other draws.

PS. For the normal lottery you pick your own numbers but for the special New Year draw the numbers are already on the ticket.

Finally found the Lotto office- - bad day Wednesday because of the market!!

This office appears to cater for the normal regular draw only. I tried the magic words "New Year" and was directecd to what sounded like "Azis Supermarket"?????

I'll try again when its quieter.

Back again today, Thursday.

Chap with better English confirmed they don't sell the lottery tickets. They just appear to take the money and run the normal lotto tickets into their machine (as said above, you select the numbers for the normal lotto just like UK).

I was directed to TEMPO Supermarket back on the main Coast Road right hand side (going towards Lapta)and one roundabout back towards Lapta. True enough, there is a very smart wooden hut on the pavement which sells the tickets. Prices as above.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction
