Cyprus is seeking expressions of interest from private investors to build a new 300,000 cubic metre oil storage facility on its southern coast, government documents seen by Reuters showed.

The project, estimated to be worth a minimum of 100 million euros, will be run jointly by the Cypriot government and the successful bidder for a period of 25 years.

What on earth for? Should they not wait till they start drilling for oil and save themselves all the money. Untill tey come to an agreement with Turkey they will not be able to start drilling never mind transporting it.

As far as I can recall under the 1960 agreement Turkey, along with Greece and the UK have a say at what goes on over here. So if the GCs start spudding near to the South coast then all hell will let loose.

Its a bluff by the GCs and they (like the rest of us) know it.

nobody has the right to say anything to an independent country what to do with their resources

the agreements with Egypt ,Israil, Lebanon , and Syria are a fact not a bluff .

If turkey wants anything, withdrαw from Cyprus and let the CTS claim what rightfully belongs to them.

At the end of the day the GCs will bottle it.

There will be no oil to store in the terminal so the whole issue will die a death.

End of subject.

Tracer, what you fail to understand is that the Turks have a hell of a lot more south coast than Cyprus and will claim what is rightfully theirs all the way to the Israili and Egyptian sea border whether you like it or not. This is on top of what the TCs are entitled to.

Secondly they have the military muscle to enforce it. Just like in the west coast against Greece. Now, I am prepared to stake my reputation on this and if GC take out a single drop of oil or gas assuming that the gas is extracted in drops from the sea without an agreement with Turkey, I shall henceforth be known as Nigoli on this forum.
