Amir Khan was knocked out inside the first minute of his WBO intercontinental lightweight title defence by Colombia's Breidis Prescott.

The Bolton boxer was put down for the first time after just 30 seconds when hit by two lefts in quick succession.

Khan, 21, managed to regain his feet but was clearly struggling.

He resumed after an eight count but Prescott unleashed another flurry and Khan hit the deck once more before being counted out after 54 seconds.

It was a first defeat for Khan, who won an Olympic silver medal at the 2004 Olympics, in the 19th fight of his professional career.

The vainer they are, the harder they fall.

Khan's strategy is to attack ,as cant take a punch, and is not used to defending.

he then fights a guy who attacks and has won with 17 knockouts in 19 wins

? Vainer?

I was fortunate to meet him just before his previous fight in the Zouk Bar in Bradford W Yorks. The guy came across as modest and took the time to have a brief chat after his meal.

Hopefully he will learn from this setback - for the better and continue his progress.

hi

i was in shock stayed up late to watch it pointless!!!!

firstly he is not vain he is one of the most humble, respectfull boxers i have seen in many years, very family oritainted and religious

like most have said he is a very attacking minded boxer and not very deffensive hence him getting knocked down the first time and gettin back up and going for the attack, even thou the other guys hit him straight on the button it is known now he has a very weak chin

i dont blame him i blame his management and frank warren for putting him against a boxer which was to strong for him cos it was too early for him to box a guy like this but like all good boxers with talent which he has got will bounce back and make him a better boxer and maybe a world champion

Tempted to say that it resembles the career of his idol naseem hamed, when they fight someone decent they get found out. may be possible to come back, but i think that the damage has been done. will be a long road back but unlikely to reach his full potential now. will have to go back to the drawing board and learn how to defend and work behind his jab and dispense with all the hype. as of now he is just another fighter.

Just a lesson in life.

Amir Khan has the grit to overcome this hurdle. I found my rear end on the canvas a number of times before I realised, If I paid attention to my trainer/coach, kept my mouth shut and my chin in it would pay dividends. Amir Khan has learnt a lesson and will be a better boxer for it.

as a 12 year old i boxed at repton boys bethnal green for a couple of years

and i used to love training sessions and sparring ,but when the real fights came with other clubs everything changed even 3 two minutes rounds seemed like a life time ,and all the training went out of the window .

amir khan has talent ,frank warren is at fault ,but then his only intrest is money.

Dont think Frank Warren is at fault in this case, Khan brought in a new trainer after his last dissapointing fight against gomez, it was he who decided on this fight, Warren has always been cautious so as not to rush Khan, when others have been saying that he is ready for a world title shot. A manager will not want to take chances unless he thinks that his fighter is ready. No point in killing the golden goose.

yes you are right his trainer suggested he fights him becuae the original boxer who he was going to fight droped out, but frank waren is to blame because he has the final say wh o he fights with and even afterhe won silver he was rushed thru the ranks and warren even admited he was to blame his comments

"Warren added: "Derek Gainer was the original choice (to fight Khan) and then he decided he didn't want to fight. We scouted around for an opponent and Jorge came up with the name Prescott. We discussed it and that's who we decided to go with.

"At the end of the day, whoever Amir fights the buck stops with me. When he's winning I'm a great matchmaker and promoter and when he loses I have to take the responsibility.

"At the end of the day the choice of opponent is down to me.

I agree with you ripoffrock, I've watched the bout a number of times now & am convinced that he was caught napping and off guard. It was the left that "did" him initially, from then it was easy to finish him off.

He'll learn from this and he''l be back the better for it!

Well, it's good that most boxers can't have their brains damaged.

guys

The blames lies at the feet of Khan's Adviser.... who is in fact a member of his family. In fact he has a number members of his family within Team Khan and they all want a piece of the pie. ITV counldn't afford him, Setenta couldn't afford him and the only way Sky could please him was to go Pay Per View. At £15 which was a total rip off Frank Warren had to shift 250,000 subscriptions to keep everybody happy and the only way he could do that was to bring in a 'Live' opponent. I doubt may people would have paid the TV money if he had fought someone with a 20 wins (8Kos) and 5 defeats. Hence, he brought in a guy with a 19 win (17Ko) 0 defeat record........ and got knockout out. In conclusion the blame rests completely with khan, his dad, and the rest of his family involved in the set up. It boils down to PURE GREED.
