3G Turkcell/Tellsim advise please

We are thinking of switching from Extend to either Turkcell or Tellsim 3G as wehave heard that their speed is faster but we do not know anything about them or that type of connection !! We use the internet often for emails, video calls etc - use Skype regularly - download tv programmes from bbc iplayer and vuze several times a week. We also have a router to our 2nd laptop.

At the minute we are on Extend 1mg (unlimited) and pay 89TL per month. However our Skpye is not too good most of the time. What package (gb) should we be thinking of to do the same with a dongle 3g and does anyone have any ideas on prices ? Or should we stay as we are ?. Thanks.

Just a view from a Turkcell user. My skype can be awful. I'm in Girne. With what you are doing on the net I doubt that the 90TL 10gig package would be sufficient. I would steer clear of the 10 plus gig package. Once you've used the 10 gigs you can have "free" internet at silly times of the night and morning. Not great I would say you are better with what you've got.

As you are doing quite a lot of downloading, I wouldn't think that either of the 3G offerings would be suitable regardless of whether Skype is OK with them or not as it would cost too much. Unless you have any chance of getting a land line/ADSL, you're stuck with wireless I'm afraid.

I have Telsim and it is very reliable, ok with Skype too.

3g is no good if you download stuff cos 10g+ on turkcell is 120 tl a month and it's only free 2am-8am

Telsim is even more expensive and more restricted !



I'd stay with extend if I were you.....unless you have a landline of course then go Nethouse 4 gig speed for 800tl a year

Thanks everyone for your help. It looks as if i will be staying with Extend or maybe moving to Nethouse who seem to have good reports from Catalkoy area - unless you know differant !!!!

Would i notice an awful lot of differance if i were to increase from 1meg to say 2 meg ? I can't honestly say i noticed much when i increased from 512 to 1 meg !!!

the difference will show in your download speed..................1 meg will give you approx 100kbs..........2 meg 200kbs......roughly !

2meg speedtest will give you approx 1.7 meg..............go for as much as you can afford
