I am particularly interested in learning about the English School of Kyrenia - As far as I know, they have not as yet had an IGCSE/GCSE graduating class, but will there be Edexcel exams ... or just Cambridge? And will the first exams be taken this year or in 2012?

The IB diploma is like equivalent to doing A levels.

Yrret,

The IBO runs three programmes :

PYP - Primary Years' Programme

MYP - Middle Years' Programme

DP - Diploma Progamme

I think you'll find that ESK does neither MYP nor PYP.

Ah yes bonnie, just looked at our paperwork.

It's CIPP 3-11

IGCSE at 15, though IB should be available by the time we need it.

Then IB above that, glad you questioned it so I looked, thanks.

First IGCSE will be 2012 as far as I know Breamli,

Email the school, all info is on their web:

According to ESK's web site ...

http://www.englishschoolkyrenia.org/Site/Academic.aspx

they follow the Cambridge International Primary Programme in the primary school, so I guess they probably use the Cambridge board for IGCSE. Maybe though, they also do Edexcel exams - they use both boards at the British Academy.

"They use both boards at the British Academy"

Might be best then if a child coming over from the UK goes to the British Academy - he is currently in year 10 and studying for Edexcel exams ...

I have 2 children at the British Academy with another one hopefully starting in September. They have been there for a year now since we moved here in January last year. They absolutely love it. They have made lots of new friends (more than in UK) and their education level has increased significantly since starting there as the class sizes are a lot smaller.

I know lots of parents that have their children in both BA and ESK and all the children are very happy and therefore so are the parents.

I think you should go and see both of the schools and get a feel for them as not every school is right for every child.

Before anyone says anything, I am in no way linked to the British Academy other than my children attend. I do not get involved with the politics and administration side of the school as this has nothing to do with me and as long as my children are happy and healthy and get a good education that is all I am interested in.

Good luck with your search I wish you all well. x

Surely it is better to direct your question to the schools involved rather than this forum unless there is an ulterior motive.
