Please does anyone know if there is a market other than the indoor one near the mosque in central Lefkosa?

The last time we went to the indoor one there was hardly any stalls set up. Is there a 'main' day it is open? Or is there a larger one outdoors somewhere, like the market in Girne. Also is there a large market anywhere at the weekends ?

Many thanks for any replys.

The Lefkosa equivalent to Girne/Guzelyurt etc. is on Sundays.

Reaching Lefkosa from Girne turn left at the main (1st) roundabout (i.e. towards Ercan) and then left again just after the Turkcell footbridge. The market is immediately on your left. Drive into the market area and then turn right before the first stalls - this takes you to the car park - but people seem to park anywhere if there is room.

The earliest I arrived was 10am and the latest I stayed was 3pm - certainly all stalls were active between those hours. But like all these markets - go early and you get the freshest produce; go later and you can negotiate good prices.
