We live in Catalkoy and for about 45mins from 5.35 to 6.20 we didn't have a total power cut but there was a decrease in the electricity supply and the lights were almost non-existant but small electrical items eg clock on cooker was working. Anyone else have this problem? Can anyone explain what has happened to a non-technical person?

Thanks

In those circumstances it is advisable to switch off your electric.

You really should fit an Elko voltage protector. This will cut off your supply when it drops to too low a level or rises to too high a level, These protectors only cost 100TL and can save costly failures of your appliances.

As far as I know they do. As far as I am aware they are designed to cut all power for a manual reset.

Look at Ismets web site http://www.elkocyprus.com which shows other products he is involved with design and import or go to the exact page http://www.elkocyprus.com/e-voltaj.html

I heard this EVP also gives immunity from speeding tickets. Could this be true...?

You can buy them from Ismet direct or from Tektan.

Let me have a go. The voltage (pressure) of the electricity to houses is 240 volts. The distribution is done at a higher voltage i.e. 11,000 volts and it is three phases. If the fuse of one of these phases blows, then the voltage on the 240 volt side remains as 240 on one phase and 120 volts on the other two phases. Thus normally in that styreet one in three houses gets the normal voltage and the other two in three gets half the voltage.

Was it too technical? Sorry, can't do any better.
