Never heard of a Cosword Mercedes ! Cosworth yes, but not in 2.6 6 cylinder.

This sounds more unique than classic.

Hi Meerkat re your message : The owner obviously meant Cosworth Mercedes & yes there is 190E 2.6

Cosworths were never 2.6 six cylinders, they were 4 cylinders specially tuned by Cosworth.

The point that I am making is that Mercedes only used Cosworth to tuned their 4 Cylinder engines, in the 190 range.

They never produced a 2.6 Cylinder model and called it Cosworth.

I am not disputing that Cosworth tuned engines for other manufacturers.

Thank you for your comments folks. As I understand girnegeeza has not got a clue what he is talking about! If he bothered to go into the website http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes he would see that the car I owned since 1989 is here in Northern Cyprus for anyone to open the bonnet and see if its 4 or 6 cylinders, but then again with todays technology providing you know where to look things are very clearly all there!! No other comments for now!

zaza1.

I am merely stating that Mercedes only produced and sold Cosworth 190s with 2.3 or 2.5, 16 valve 4 cylinder engines. Never with a six cylinder 2.6.

Now your car may have a 2.6 six cylinder engine and a Cosworth badge but it did not leave the Mercedes factory like that.

I am in no way saying anything against your car, I have not seen it or know anything about it.

Meerkat.

Because at present I am in the UK.

I made a statement that I believe to be accurate, it was not intended to be a critiscism of the vehicle in any way.

I think no more needs to be said on the subject.

mercedes benz germany used the british company cosworth for porting the head of the engine, because cosworth at the time had a great track racing record. i can/will confirm that there is small mi understanding on this subject. if the vehicle IS a cosworth AND is 2.6 engine it has to have 16 valves, a mechanical and electric fuel pump. the manifold is also unique on the cosworth. its 4 port. which makes it a 4 cylinder and not a 6 cylinder.

i have tried to convince myself that this 190 could be unique but it seems that the present brought it in good faith and was told it was a cosworth, but it wasnt..

does the car have the 3 inique to cosworth clocks under the radio. the cosworth had a stop watch amongst them. does yours have one too? it MUST have a digital stop watch. is the interior all leather or half leather? if it has half leather, the centre MUST have the grey 'dog tooth' check material.[it was used in the silver arrows of the 50's.

good luck with the sale all the same

There’s a new Ebay style Auction site in Cyprus that’s just starting up and it caters for TRNC residents.

Have you thought of advertising you items for sale there?

Since it is an auction, you may find that you items for sale are worth more than you think!

In any case, you can set a reserve price for your items.

Why not check it out at: http://www.ebayincyprus.com
