As far as I know,you wont have any problems providing the vehicle(commercial) is no older then 12 years of age and in your name.Make sure it has a valid road tax(uk) since it is valid here.

However,if you are planning to transport some goods over at the same time be prepaired in Turkey for some problems.My next door neighbour was charged 3000tl at KAPIKULE and was told he could claim it back at TASUCU if everything in the van was still in there,when got there he was told 'no money,go'.I went all the way to KAPIKULE with him to claim it back again.

Not that he preciates it,but thats Russians for you!

Here is my number if you need any help,especialy when you get to GIRNE-0533 873 9181

Lovely journey but mind the weather.

ive, Unless the rules have changed it is the owner of the car who has to be in NC 365 days (not necessarily continuously) before registration and duty payable. Compulsory insurance when arriving in NC lasts for 3 months before renewal. (this was 8 years ago).UK MOT was also accepted for 3 years from date of issue.

doddies;

Thats for the purpose of importing.From what I understood,ive@karsiyaka will just be visiting.

By the way,360 days rule is for the ones residing in TRNC,not min either,starts from day 1-360th day that you are classed as visitor which entitles you for importing your 'own' vehicle as well as your (ie.)furniture.Once you've completed your 360 days stay in TRNC,you are no longer a visitor,therefore you must pay all duties on arrival or the vehicle stays at customs until you do.It is also after 360 day rule that if you want to import a vehicle it must be no older then 3 years(domestic),12 years(commercial) of age,up until then it is any age providing you've had it in your name for min. of 5 years.

Hope the info is usefull.

Complecated or what!

Hi Yorgozla

Perhaps you could help us too with info, please. We have a Suzuki Vitara that is W reg year 2000.. it is in my name 5 years in March, was prior our son's for 2 years. It has only done just under 30,000 to date. We don't live in Cyprus YET, but looking forward to when we do. But as it has no market value here in the UK would be ideal there and save us on Car Hire. Can we have it sent over, any idea of cost for this and customs duty?? We visit 3-4 times a year.

So, is it too old or not worth the hassle??? What company would you recommend we approach to transport it, if this can be done

Thank you for your info, if you know.

Hi Jennie;

As long as the car has been in your name you can import it.As for the cost of duties,if you'd forward me a copy of your log book I could ask the commisioner to have it worked out for you.

Pretty sure you can bring a car or van in to a TRNC port as a visitor of ANY age. Yes it must be taxed. It must be in your name (log book) and you must buy insurance at the port. They will give you one month then you can extend it (as long as the tax disc is still in date) upto 1 year max. At the end you have a choice to "re-export" it or leave it at customs (loss).

Good luck

PS Double check all paperwork is in order before setting off (chassis no's, names etc)
