Paddywack - shameful indeed.

I like animals and feel dreadfully sorry for all the unwanted/abandoned cats, dogs, etc. in TRNC.

BUT - this is getting beyond a joke. I think (and I am probably wrong) that until they adopt a law/rule of some form of euthenasia, this problem will escalate (as if it hasn't happened already). I am not suggesting that the moggy in question should be put down, but it's got beyond a "joke" (wrong word, but I'm sure you know what I mean). Mass euthenasia is the only answer to the amount of unwanted animals on this Island; that and speying and castration.

I was visiting the Island when KAR first started up; they are doing a fine job but, in my opinion, they are flogging a dead horse (again - pardon the pun).

Jean ,

We have cats on the farm who are natural hunters who are more than able to look after themselves foodwise,

but the dogs are a different matter, they have to be fed regularly, because the hunting instinct has been bred out of them.

If you read through previous postings we have been trying to rehome our cat for a couple of months.. We took this cat on 1 & 1/2 years ago to help a lady out who was returning to the uk and we now hope someone can do the same for us...If you cannot help then why comment..This island is full of too many people who have nothing better to do with themselves but to pass judgement without understanding the circumstances...this certainly is something I will not miss when I am gone fron trnc. Fortunately a neighbour has kindly offerred to take on our cat but we thought we continue to find her a home if possible. If this country had a pet passport scheme here than we would have taken our pets back with us but unfortunately this is not the case. All our animals have been rehomed and I am very grateful to our friends who have helped us out.

Oh I have read many of the previous postings, and the way I see it, like it or not, is , many ex.pats. brits.whatever seem to treat animals as disposable accessories.

when we were backwards and forwards as children of RAF families we just took over the pets that went with the house we were living in at the time, worked well.....the animals didnt have to get used to a new home..........one particular cat we had which was very old, we deceided was just too old to get used to a new owner so we were going to have her put down, thinking it was the kindest thing.... two days before we were due to come back to UK she disappeared only to reappear two days after we had gone and moved in with the new occupants. When it was their time to leave three years later they felt the same, too old to climatize so booked the vets appointment to have her put to sleep, once again she disappeard until the coast was clear for her to reappear again........... who says cats are stupid??

We are moving to a rental property in the uk and the landlord will not allow pets otherwise I would have taken them back, perhaps loving cyprus you could have a word with him and convince him otherwise..you seem to have plenty to say without knowing the facts.

Old people get put in homes and forgotten about when nobody wants them!! We have rescued lots of animals in the four years we have been here which otherwise wouldn't have survived and have spent hundreds of pounds on vets fees in the process that's a lot more than some have done to help these poor little animals....PLEASE CLOSE THIS THREAD

Thank you Schoie..It is a big enough upheaval and very stressful time moving back to the uk with two young children..At the moment people questioning our actions and voicing their opinions on Cyprus44 is the least of our worries!!!

Sorry shameless, but post on here - suffer consequences. That is the way it will happen. Being a member for quite a while, you should know this.

BTW - Best of luck with the move back to UK. Better you than me!
