GAU Dance Classes - anyone interested in free dance lessons!

The Girne American University has been running in Dance for 2 years.



In our 4 year Performing/Teaching course our students must work practically with a large range of teaching ages.



In response to this we are inviting anybody over the age of 18, who would like to experience a range of dance styles, to contact us through this forum. No experience is necessary!



The classes will take place either on Tuesday or Thursday (this will be decided when we know numbers and interest) from the 1st March to the 2nd May 2011. These classes will be free of charge but we do ask that you make a commitment to attending each week.



Please contact me if you are interested in taking part in these dance lessons, we look forward to hearing to you.

You don't say what time of day nor for how long. I would love to throw away my wooden legs and train for 'Strictly Come Dancing' - that owuld be a nice aim for 2011, but, pleaSE:

More than four I think, MollyC. Maybe Paula the Poster is vacating testing her talents on 'So you think you can dance?'. And maybe when she is back she will answer us all. Meanwhile, seems little point in polishing up the tap dancing shoes - or re-pointing the ballet shoes.

Hi folks I am really sorry for not being able to reply sooner but I am on holiday in Thailand and it has taken ages to find a place to use the internet....



I will be away until the the 14th February but I will try to answer some of the general questions now-



1) The class will be held around 4 or 5 pm on either the Tuesday or Thursday - it may be possible to hold a class on both Tuesday and Thursday if the interest is enough (which by your replies could be possible).



2) The styles of dance will be all types from 'gentle' hip hop to modern to contemporary maybe some aerobics. It has to be a mix for the students to get a chance to experience teaching all styles to all ages.



3) At the moment I think that the class will be for an hour and we will teach each style of dance for around 3-4 weeks (ish).

4) Yes I will hold a general meeting towards the end of February (date to be confirmed).



5) Finally yes we do offer dance classes to all ages of children as part of the GAU Stage School - currently we do Ballet, Hip Hop, Latin and as far as I can remember Tap. These are open for ages 5 - 16. The price ranges from 85-100 TL per month, with discounts on 2 or more classes.



I hope this answers some of your intermediate questions and again I'm sorry for not replying sooner.

Hello again to you all...thank you for your patience and I hope your all still enthusiastic about our dance classes.



We will be holding a meeting next Tuesday (22nd Feb) at 5pm (or thereabouts) to discuss times and so that you can meet the student teachers and myself. As a slight change to the previous messages the classes can either be a Tuesday or Wednesday at around 5ish but we can discuss this in more detail at the meeting.



The meeting will be held at the GAU Dance Academy which can be found as follows-



From the new bypass drive past the enclosed tennis and football pitches which will be on your left. Take the first left hand turn and follow the road (where you can go straight ahead or take another left turn), follow the road straight ahead (you will go down a slight hill). The Dance Academy building is on your left behind the new closed in tennis courts, there are car parking spaces in front of the tennis courts.
