I'm thinking of buying an Arcelik dishwasher. It seems pretty cheap compared to other makes at 669TL and does all the things I want it to do (it's A rated, has various different programmes and, most importantly, has a timer).

My question is are Arcelik dishwashers reliable and if I do have problems, are Arcelik good at after-sales service/repairs etc?

Any advice greatfully received.

Had mine six years. No problems. Only had a problem with one item from Arcelik and guarantee proved almost worthless.

We have had many kitchen items from Arcelik, from microwaves, fridges cookers and dishwasher for the restaurant. As denizen says guarantee worthless. They were awful to deal with x

We have an Arcelik Dishwasher, had lots of problems with it during the first year, Arcelik were good and came out to repair it every time it went wrong at no charge, had a new motor in the end and I was annoyed at the time that they didnt just change the whole machine for a new one. Touch wood its been fine since the new motor, but I wouldnt buy another one. All of our white goods are Arcelik, and I find the service centre good, never had a problem in or out of the guarantee time, however as and when they need to be replaced we probably wont buy Arcelik again.

Don't have a dishwasher (her indoors does that ) but all our other white goods are Arcelik and never had a problem. Also have a five year old TV of theirs which had a problem after guarantee ran out they took away and repaired in a couple of days for 80TL including call out charge. Bought a new fridge freezer last week but wanted doors swapped from right to left, rang them Friday and they arrived Monday morning to do, free of charge of course. Always found them to be very courteous and helpful.

Thanks for all your comments. I had initially gone for Bosch as we had one in the UK and I have a Bosch fridge-freezer here but really cannot see the point of spending an extra 300TL minimum.

There are only two of us Wanderer but I am so sick of washing up! It's too blinking hot in the summer and it's a pain having to put the immersion heater on in the winter so I'm going to treat myself.

I have an arcelik dishwasher and have had no problem. Had a problem with their washing machine but after sales (out of guarantee) was first class.

We had all white goods from Arcelik 6 years ago. Have called them out twice and both times they have been quick and mended no problem.

I've had Arcelik stuff for the past 12 years and wouldn't hesitate to buy the brand again. I've had them out a couple of times and they have always been quick with repairs. In fact, apart from getting them out to repair a fridge and a freezer which gave problems after a night of low power, nothing else has ever broken down. Friends have Bosch and getting them out has always been a complete nightmare, guarantee or not!

We bought the following Arcelik appliances: fridge/freezer [stainless steel] in August 2005 - no problems. Also, [both silver - about 300TL more expensive than white] washing machine - one call-out during warranty - free, and dishwasher, which 'packed a sad' about a month ago. It needed a new solenoid [fair enough after 5 years almost daily use] and a new programme circuit board. All that was wrong with the PC board was that the relay had burnt out - nothing else, but the guys replaced the whole board - cost of repair 210TL - still cheaper than a replacement [silver] model, which costs 900TL.

We had also, in 2005, bought an Arcelik 42" plasma TV - it went back for repairs about four or five times, just after expiry of warranty; however, Arcelik Service only charged us once. When this TV 'packed a terminal sad' about 3 months ago, we complained bitterly and said we hoped they would give us a replacement with a hefty discount - they did better than that - after a week Arcelik's

Cont'd: van arrived with a BRAND NEW 42" LCD FLAT SCREEN TV - NO CHARGE!

Now, what can you say about that? - Incredible!

THANKS HEAPS ARCELIK - YOU'VE GOT OUR BUSINESS FROM NOW ON!

It seems that the service guys always try to fix washing machines and dishwashers on the premises - TV's, however, are obviously more complex in terms of fault diagnosis, so I think they usually take these back to the service workshop in Lefkosa. Their turnaround, though, is excellent!

I think I will definitely go for the Arcelik as it will match my cooker and washing machine. One more question please; where do you buy your dishwasher salt?

All our white goods are Arcelik, only ever had a minor problem with the dishwasher and they came out the day we spoke to them and fixed it.

Feel the same as IbrahimAbi, buy local goods and then no problem with parts when repairs are needed.

We buy our dishwasher salt at the supermarket, in our case Supreme.

We have just bought a new Arcelik Fridge/Freezer NTF 4600, only one complaint is the internal fan runs constantly making an annoying humming noise 24/7. Arcelik says this is 'normal'. Anyone else experienced(ing) this?

We've had all Arcelik white goods for 5 years with a few, small problems which were always sorted promptly by the company in and out of warranty. Reasonable spares readily available in Lefkosa.

Used to have Whirlpool and Zanussi white goods in UK with loads of technical problems and spares expensive and hard to come by.

Arcelik are the MOST professional outfit in Cyprus. Our appliances are now 7.5 years old. The cooker element has failed and it cost us 20 lire to get a new one.

The dishwasher failed after 7 years and it cost us 40 lire to get it repaired.

These lads are brilliant, courteous and very efficient, fixed our goods on the premises and no fuss and no cons.

I would not recommend anyone other than Arcelik. We have just refitted another home and every appliance came from Arcelik. They even gave us a freestanding fan just because we admired the quietness of it.

We are going back next week to get ourselves a new TV Arcelik deserve to get the business.

Well done to them! I will say though, that we always go to the Lefkosa store because it is soooo much less expensive than Girne. Sorry Girne but you need to be a bit more competetive.

3 years guarantees, where can you get that? Brilliant service where the customer is king!!!

Msg 19. We bought recently the NTF5000. The fan runs constantly (when the door is closed) but is not noisy, however if we leave the door open for to long it whistles loudly which we have never experienced before with a fridge but assume it to be a warning to close it.
