We have a beautiful dog that needs a new home - unfortunately we have to return to the UK and it breaks our heart to have to try and find her a new home.

She is a beautiful chocolate pointer (much smaller than the average pointer - only 15 kilos). She is lovely, has the most gentle nature, is fantastic with children and is very well trained. She would make a fantastic addition to any family. We would love to take her with us but unfortunately we cannot. Her name is Maggie and she is ideally looking for a new owner that will love and care for her as much as we do.

Could you not take her?

The UK quarantine is 6 months but they do get into the routine and show no ill effects when they come home.

I speak from knowing the experience of my in laws when they returned to the UK from the far east.

Paddywack - put your money where your mouth is - give us the £4k needed to take her to UK and we'd take her with us in a second. It's very easy for you to sit in the comfort of your own home, hiding behind a computer and shooting your mouth off!

We are not in a position to be able to afford to take her home.

I would be grateful if only people interested in taking her would reply to this post.

I am so sick of reading these heartbreaking stories.

Why would it cost £4k to take the dog back anyway?

Lilli, you chose to take her in so she is your responsibility, that makes you no better than all these other people looking to rehome their animals, after all your "heart bleeds" when you hear all the other sad stories on here, so why is this dog any different?

Hi Diogenes. May I just correct you. She was yet another one dumped on me. The 27th in 14 months. I found homes for 26 but its really difficult to find a home for Tess. There are just so many looking now. I cant take her home as I am over run with dogs. Also my work makes it difficult for me to give them the love they all deserve. I did orginally post on here to try to find a home but seeing how many are doing so I stopped.I could have just ignored her but I cant bear to see a dog on the main road.Kaz may have had more time and more luck than me. Everyday I get someone call into to see if I will take their dog. All I want for Tess is more than I can give her. We do not know the circumstances why these dogs cant be taken back. I would never judge and if I can help I do.

Yet another person giving up their dog, this is disgracefull and just so cruel

I'm sure everyone could easily (that is if they want to) raise the funds needed to take the animals to the uk.

Lilli, Do you think its easy for any of us to see these animals roaming around on the roads? I also see it everyday, and believe it or not, i too am an animal lover, the difference is i know that i cannot take these animals. What i will not do, is take them in to make myself feel better, and then hope that i can pass the responsibility on to someone else.

Diogenes, you very clearly do not understand Lilli's contribution to animal welfare. Turn your "attention" to someone else, why don't you?

Msg17 what can I do when they are tied to my chair just put them on the road to death row. I have just been unlucky with Tess as you can see from all the posts. Would I neglet her NEVER. I took her in as you so rightly said, I have had her 5 months now. I will keep trying to place her with her perfect family. I know nothing about these animals when they are left with me. What injections worming etc. After not getting them claimed which has happened twice, i take them to the vets to frontline and checked. I see the pain of all these dogs.I wont neglet her after all that. All i want is a good home as all the others have. I certainly do not take them on to make me feel better, its more of a worry for me. Also vets bills and feeding. I worry everyday about her. If I did it to make me feel good I would pick them more carefully.Ask anyone who knows me the difference in that little lady from when she arrived on me to now. She is a star x

leave Lilli alone, she does good work re-homing these animals which are dumped on her, she does not close her eyes to them.

Diogenes

Back off Lilli because you clearly do not know anything about Lilli or what she has done for a lot of animals in the TRNC. There are lots of people on this board who have taken stray dogs and cats in and they are to be commended but Lilli is a soft touch when it comes to animals and has worked tirelessly to rehome many a stray dog. She has sheltered them, fed them and found homes for a lot of dogs that would of been on the streets and either been poised, shot or killed by being run over. Lilli asks for no contributions to do this, this is just one kind lady.Read over Lilli's posts for the last 2 years and you will see what she has done before you start having a go at her for being unkind to animals. I await your apology to Lilli that is if you are big enough to apologies for getting something totally wrong. I have only met this lady once so i am not a relative or a friend just someone who has admiration for lady that helps out poor animals in the TRNC

Why get a dog if its not for life?

In the UK quarentine doesn't ask for a lump sum, you can pay monthly!

Maggie has now found a new home. She has been adopted by a lovely couple and even has a playmate now so I am very relieved.

Thanks everyone for the positive remarks - in particular Lilli - thank you for your notes and also for all the great work you have done in helping re-home dogs that you have found. Please don't let peoples negative comments hinder your good work xx

Best Regards

Avril

Avril/David,

Maggie settled in fine and happy. No problems in the trip back, walked around the hills like a lady while woof just bumbled along in his normal way. Now both well fed (probably too much but it all helps) in separate baskets in front of the fire! Have some pictures for you but have lost your email - please send yours again. We were right to find woof another pointer and a female as it has worked well so far. Will stay in touch and you are welcome to visit anytime.

Lilly, took the chance with maggie even if she is not a puppy, good luck with Tess but the same breed saves problems.
