There is a local variety of sweet potato, they call it something beginning with gol......

Have you tried those?

Apart from that I haven't tracked sweet potatoes down except in the south.

Panchocat are you referring to Kolokasi which are the big tubers sold in supermarkets and which have a taste a bit like sweet potato but are in fact a beet vegetable. I like yourself have never seen any other than in the South.

You could always get a kind friend to bring over some sweet potatoes from the UK

Joef, are you allowed to bring different plants in from other countries?

spudlov...i'm not sure it's legal, but i have many clients who do this, i even know of someone who regularly takes small citrus trees back to the UK in his suitcase!!

I'm sure a couple of spuds in your bag wouldn't cause too much fuss.

Its legal under EU regulations if the plants, seeds etc are for your own use and not for commercial reasons and they are free of disease.

That's handy to know Joef. Hoping to move out this year and do a bit of a "good life". It will be handy to be able to bring our own stock with us. Thanks for your input DD.
