Prime Minister İrsen Küçük has said that economic indicators show that the austerity measures introduced by the government have a positive impact on the economy. He said that the government planned to close the budget deficit and balance the TRNC budget by 2012.





Speaking on Bayrak Haber yesterday morning, the Premier said that no problems will be experienced in paying salaries this year and that 13th month bonus salaries was a right which will be continued.

Evaluating last Friday’s mass protest rally, he reminded that the government had called for dialogue with labor unions and that he expected to meet with representatives of trade unions and political parties in the near future.



Touching upon the issue of privatization, the Premier announced that legislation allowing privatization would be approved by parliament soon, paving the way for the launch of an international tender in March to hand over the management of Ercan Airport to a private company

They should sell the airport to Hermes - then we'd get direct flights!

The first paragraph seems as though it has been taken out of an old Gordon Brown speech.



Be interesting so see whether this all pans out, and I would make further comments, but I dont want to be classed as negative, and reap the wrath of some board members.
