He also spoke of the Department’s works regarding the promotion of TRNC tourism at the 7 biggest international tourism fairs.

Also speaking, BRT Director Özer Kanlı said it was BRT’s mission to serve the Cyprus Turkish People and underlined the media’s significant role in the promotion of the tourism sector.

Referring to the cooperation between BRT and the Turkish state channel TRT, Kanli announced that promotional films of the TRNC tourism will also be broadcast on TRT’s documentary channel.

Delivering the final speech at the press conference, the Minister of Tourism, Environment and Culture Kemal Dürüst said that the TRNC’s international reputation was equivalent to its policies on tourism, environment and culture.

Stressing the need for raising tourism consciousness in the country, Dürüst pointed to the fact that economic development of the TRNC depended on tourism.

The Minister also thanked the BRT for its contributions in the preparation of the promotional materials.

The TRNC government has policies, Fantastic I look forward to their policies on inept advocates, government officials, the justice system and dodgy constructors. Then the rest as they say will be easy

This, together with the new Environmental penalties means that they are getting it right.

Bill, you must be kidding? All these words are only selling a nicely painted dustbin. Sustainable tourism (and that's what the TRNC should have as the target) starts at home and not on another fair or press conference in some far-away-country.

So where is the project plan? And who will implement it. I hope it works but I have heard those words so many times I could give the talk without a script. And all that happens is that the place gets dirtier, prices are higher , but one has to admit that nationalities other than B rits are still coming. So maybe the policies are working elsewhere.

However, there are several of us here who would love to be able to work within the tourism industry and put in some real professionalism. But , yava,s yavas - maybe next year willbe the year, but for this year, bookings are down more than last year.

So where is the panic button
