In view of the vast number of unwanted dogs on this island, could this message board consider the possibility of not accepting any adverts from people who are advertising their puppies for sale? Many newspapers and magazines in UK won't accept adverts from known puppy farmers. Only a splash in the ocean, but it might just help to keep the numbers down.

Not everyone who breeds dogs is a puppy farmer. How did you come to that conclusion?

Decent breeders only breed a litter when they have homes for the puppies to go to. Sometimes people let you down, hence puppies for sale.

Not everyone wants a resucue / mixed breed dog.

In my experience when people pay good money for a dog ,they are more likely to care for that dog better than someone who go a dog for free.

We had 5 rescue/abandoned dogs at one stage. Most had NO manners, couple had been poisoned.

However, seing many abondoned by the so called 'going back home' gang had made me change my mind about, dog is not a dog.It should not be,easy come easy go.

We now have 2 dogs, one of minature pincher and a chihuahua, which we had paid alot of money for. They are our kids and they go where we go.We WILL breed them for the porpuse of wanting some more, but would sell as well if too many.

Your dog is your responsibility.I do not have to look after/rehome your dog.If that bothered, put them to sleep.

Next victim please.

Poor dogs i wish they ruled the world, what a much better place it would be. My three dogs are my life and if i had the money i would happily surround myself with these beautiful genuine creatures and wouldnt want anything more in life, except DOGS AND DOG LOVERS.

In my experience paying a lot of money for any animal does not guarantee it will live in a good home.

I have been involved in St Bernard Rescue in the UK for many years, where people have paid hundreds of pounds for their adorable puppies. They still abandon them for many reasons, once the novelty has worn off. Pedigree dogs are often bought as a status symbol and are not necessarily more lovable than a cross breed. In many cases they are far less healthy because of the inbreeding.

I just think breeding more dogs in Cyprus should be discouraged.

If anybody needs any help in breeding, I can vouch for my GR, he has every breed of a dog in him which means he can breed with any bitch and and will produce all breeds. Now that's what I call a top dog.

Experience breeders do not inbreed! They may well line breed to improve the breed but never inbreed.

All pedigree dog types have their own rescues in the UK. Pity the same doesn't apply here.

You only have to look at the dogs advertised here for rehoming to see that if it comes for free its easy come easy go.
