Hi, it appears that the first part of my original posting has been misplaced. It was to introduce myself as Co-ordinator for “Help Those with Cancer Association”, otherwise known as Tulips”. There is of course another very important cancer charity, the North Cyprus Cancer Charity Trust (NCCCT) which supplies much needed equipment and specialist service to cancer sufferers. Tulips, however, aims to provide individual support to Turkish Cypriots, British Ex- Pats and other Foreign Nationals who have been recently diagnosed with cancer. We provide information in English and of course Turkish about treatment available and the likely affects of that treatment. Tulips will also provide information on where to get treatment and where necessary provide transportation. Most importantly we will provide direct financial support to the individual as and if required.

We will be asking for your help, advice and support in future postings.

Thank you for the responses I have been receiving by email. I have been responding to them immediately. I will be posting in the next day or so to let you know some of the forthcoming events we have planned and when they are. We will obviously be looking for help in any capacity, either goods, services or publicity, or just plain hands on. Meanwhile keep the help coming to "Help Those With Cancer".

Cheers Carole

I was diagnosed with cancer in November 2010 and after I recovered from the initial shock of the diagnosis, I then had to get my head around of where to go for a 2nd or 3rd opinions, what is available in this country, where I could go for the best treatment suitable for my type of cancer, how much was all this going to cost ….. this list is endless, I can assure you and this is what gave me more sleepless nights than the actual diagnosis of cancer!

A friend of mine mentioned ‘Help Those With Cancer Association’ (also known as Tulips) run by Raziye Kocaismail, so I went to their office and found so much help available to me and it was such a huge relief that I cannot even begin to express how I felt. They did not care that I was a foreigner, in their eyes I was someone desperately in need of help and guidance.

Continued….

This charity took away as much of the stress as they could by organising consultations for me, I could go to see specialists in the TRNC, South Cyprus and Turkey the choice was mine. They organised for me to have all the tests and scans that are absolutely necessary when first diagnosed with cancer.

Initially I only told a couple of very close friends about my cancer and although I have not gone into detail of my diagnosis, I still never thought that I would be sharing this on a public forum but I needed to tell everyone how grateful I (and my husband) am for the help and support this charity gave me.

Those of you who know me would soon realise that I was having chemotherapy, yes you guessed it, I’m losing my hair! Maybe I should organise a sponsored head shave but it would have to be quickly!!

Please find it in your hearts to support this charity when you see any events organised by them as their work is invaluable.

Carole – I have emailed you off board.

Below I have copied and pasted another thread with the charities contact details if anyone can help them.

'If you have been diagnosed with cancer and need help or assistance please either email me at tulipscarole@yahoo.com or telephone 0548 8754858 and I will be able to help you with information in English if required and put you in touch with the people who can help you through your ordeal.'

At the moment I can only say thank you for all the support I received.
