Just heard a rumor.

That the 90 day visa is going to be stopped. ie. If you have been here say 6 months and you cross the border (and lets say it's your 2nd or 3rd cross over) to get a new 90 day visa. You will be refused a visa.

Any comments.

Just a thought. I know they periodically tighten up but I would think it more likely they will give you 7 days or more and you would be advbised to go for temp.residency. Don't know. It needs someone in authority to give you a proper answer. Anyone reading this know for sure what is likely to happen.

As far as I can understand, the authorijties would prefer you to go to Turkey or somewhere else in order to get another 90 days. I know people who do this and there is no problem. It is the crossing to the south that seems to be the problem.

Probably better to take a trip to Bodrum and have a holiday than try crossing to the south.

Why would anyone want to risk their stay for the sake of 2-300 liras?

Ref Msg 1,

This can not be a bad thing , if more people paid for thier residency instead of trying to buck the system it would probably make life easier all round.!!!!

With Andy on this one. Uncertain times at the moment, why give them a reason to "thin out" the expats?

I agree that it is better to go for temporary residency but if you dont want to go down that route or maybe are staying for just a little over the 90 days on one stay in the TRNC, IAH can organise trips on nearly any departure date from Ercan to Antalya in a variety of locations for a couple of nights - they need not be expensive and they can always have an added tour to make it more like a holiday.

Email me at info@flightholiday.co.uk we would be delighted to help with short tours to Turkey. Pleassde give me dates and at least one or two telephone numbers to call you on.

Or for a fun idea look at the following trip that tries to do it all (designed for valentines day but we can offer similar romantic breaks most of the year in Antalya, Cappadocia Istanbul etc) http://www.valentinesdaytravel.com/Valentines_Day_Valentines_in_Antalya.php

Penny Msg 8 - This is off topic but I am not sure as yet. Also if it happens it might be date dependant.

Sorry to be off topic, but glad I'm not alone in wishing Dalaman was available. It's not even easy to do via Istanbul, with a long waitover. It used to be such an easy flight to Dalaman.

mess 1 - after a few months on "devils island" - i would have thought you'd be hot tailing it back to Thailand...........

you must be freezing your socks off at night and pulling your hair with the poor choice of high price produce in the shops........

We left Thailand a few months back, then toured Vietnam for 6 weeks and been in Naples (Florida) for the last 10 days - its absolutely sensational !! - been offered a job there too, so quite possibly could be staying.......

get yer deeds the same day too............

Long live the KFC.......

Hope your question is now answered. Enjoy your 90 days and either apply for temp or go away somewherenice for a holiday. Don't risk breaking the law. Better for you and better for everyone. Don';t want we yabanci to get a bad reputation, do we.

my husband is a turkish cypriot and iv just got my kimlik so i dont have that problem anymore. But when i was single after my 90 days where up i would cross the border and therfore get 90 more days. but after the 3rd time the police at the border said that i would be refused the next time .. meaning i would have to get a residency.

after i got married i didnt go te get my kimlik and every time i wanted to go to cross the border they would say that i had a huge fine (becouse i didnt get my residency) untill i showed them my marriage certificate.

wich then they said i needed to go and apply for my kimlik as soon as possible.

so i guess the answer to your question is yes.
