We ate some lovely fish when we visited this time. Don't know what it was though, I was hoping some one might know the name of it.

It had no bones but a cartlidge running down the middle. It was quite firm and cut into steaks. It was pale coloured but the flesh compact a bit like tuna. It was very tastey.

It was probably Amberjack, known as Mineri locally.

mineri is not a small fish . it could have been spanish mackrel or swordfish. the textures the same and the meat is dark in colour. the mineri is big boned and mainly a white colour although there are a few different types..

Why didn't you ask the waiter?

Surely he would know best.

How are cyprus44 members going to know - not that that will stop them guessing, but you will be no wiser afterwards.

Because I bought it off the market in Lefkosa and cooked it myself, but of course you knew that clever cloggs !!

I don't write much on this forum and you've just proved why.

What's wrong with you people? Sad, jealous, or just plain ignorant?

Sorry don't answer that, the answer is in your post.
