will the ipod pick up the internet in north cyprus

You would be better of turning your roaming settings of or it will cost you a small fortune. just find a couple of places near to you that have free wi-fi do what you need to do while your there.Buying a couple of drinks for this service will be a small price to pay compared with a BIG bill when you get home. hope this helps.

It won't cover you for data when roaming. It will probably work but cost a fortune. follow the advice above

I'm also on a £15 a month package, that gives me 500 free talk minutes to any mobile or landline in the UK, unlimited text (although this is set to be 3,000 a month) and unlimited internet. However, all these only apply when you're in the UK. Last year my roaming charges in the North came to £245 for a 2 week stay but I noticed that call charges, text and roaming in South was fair more reasonable... about 70% cheaper! So like previous posts suggest, I would switch the roaming off when in the North. To enable to have your phone working with a local chip, you may need to have the phone unlocked which will carry a small fee and I painfully found out that this will invalidate any remaining warranty you may have on the phone if not carried out by an Apple authourised store.

sorry... iPad will also work but again watch out for the high roaming charges! I always managed to find an open WiFi connection, there seems to be plenty about in built up areas.
